nodnarb Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 No one plays with more heart than bruschi. If this guy comes back and plays again, he'll be my fuggin hero. http://www.kold.com/Global/story.asp?S=3082621&nav=14RSXXEe

Didn't he come back and win the title after being diagnosed with it? So maybe there's hope for Teddy.
Like A Mofo Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Damn that is sad news...wishing him nothing but the best and a speedy recovery

I'd hate to see him with a "whole" heart ! Bring me Teddy, Spielman and Talley - just one more time ! (Honorable mention to Zack)
The Avenger Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 This guy has a stroke and now has a hole in his heart - unbelievable. These are problems you get when you're 75, not a young professional athlete. God bless to Teddy - hope he can fight these things off.
kasper13 Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 The guy had a stroke and now has a hole in his heart. If he ever stepped on a football field again, he is beyond crazy. If anyone ever let him play in the NFL again they are just as nuts. He played 9 seasons in the NFL and has won three Super Bowls. He has two young kids to think about. It's time for him to retire. There is being a warrior and then there is being stupid. Chris Spielman, one of the toughest players of all-time, walked away and gave up the game he loved without a Super Bowl Ring because of a neck injury and then his wife getting breast cancer and to me that doesn't make him any less tough, in fact that was a very admirable thing to do. Bruschi has nothing left to prove and should just retire before he dies on the field.
R. Rich Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Bruschi has to deal w/a hole in his heart and a stroke while TMEP gets to continue his "search for the real killers" at golf courses in Florida??? Damn.
CajunBillsBacker Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Man, that sucks, not sure how much this affects his playing career, but if there is any risk at all, even 0.00001% risk, then he needs to hang it up. It's a damn shame things like this happen to the good guys while scum like Carruth, Cecil Collins, and Lawrence Phillips never developed any physical health problems.
its only real shh Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Come on, Cecil Collins?? I could see if he raped someone or killed his girl, the guy was a peepin tom. A little sick in the head, yeah. Im not gonna wish a near death illness on him because he looks at sleepin women. Unless Im wrong, fill me in. Did he rape anyone?
Corp000085 Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 oh come on... I hope rae carruth lives a long, healthy life. Do you know how many prisoners could put the "i made an nfler my b*tch" notch on their belt??

USMCBillsFan Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 One of my co workers had the EXACT same thing. He had a stoke first and then they discovered a hole in his heart at the hospital. This just happened last summer. He was always a big body builder type weight lifter. He's 40 something and had surgury to repair it. He's back to full strength now lifting as much as ever and running. As a matter of fact, he's in Iraq right now fighting, humping packs and weapons doing great. I know it's not the rigors of professional football but I think Teddy should be able to come back.
Dan Gross Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I'll be among the group of non-medical experts who will forward the proposition that this might improve the chance of him returning to the NFL. I would imagine not finding a root cause of the stroke would have been grounds for him to retire...but again, I don't even play a doctor on TV, so...

Bruschi needs to make some decisions...i hope the guy turns out ok, but as someone said, hes got 3 SB rings, and have made some decent bucks in the NFL...why risk your life when you have accomplished what you need to in a career...stay home and watch your kids grow...
Dan Gross Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Perhaps he could seek a second opinion from Reggie Lewis's doctors in Boston, if he can't find the proper medical advice on TBD. 276429[/snapback] Back when it was "just" a stroke, I would have recommended Baby Joe Mesi's doctor, but you're right. This is the job for a cardiac specialist. I do hope he makes the right decision for himself and his family. Speaking not as a Bills (and thus anti-Pats) fan, but as a human being....
Justice Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I don't care what anybody says. The guy is ALL heart to me. Good luck Tedy. Just take it easy on our Bills, okay?
Puhonix Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 couple thoughts.... I heard some mumblings that this might be steroid related, any word on that? Also, is this story even confirmed? Papers in Boston are saying that this is a false report. ESPN isnt even reporting anything yet.
