"The U.S. “continues to actively prepare” for an “expected summit” between President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un in Singapore, the White House said, as diplomatic efforts are underway on two continents to prepare for the historic meeting.

Trump confirmed Tuesday that a top North Korean official, Kim Yong Chol, is headed to New York for talks with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. It marks the latest sign that prospects for the summit are growing, just days after it was ostensibly called off by Trump, as teams of U.S. officials have arrived at the Korean demilitarized zone and in Singapore to prepare for the meeting."

What do you think will be the outcomes of this summit - both short and long term?

I think they officially end the Korean War, and Kim agrees to denuclearize and stop their missile program.

Massive Western investments can then pour into the North - specifically agricultural machinery, electrical power generating systems, tourism businesses, mining equipment and refining, and manufacturing - both heavy and light, e.g., electronics.

I think that part of the world will see incredible prosperity as a result of this logjam breakthrough.

ST, expect your guess that the North denuclearizes & the Korean police action officially ends is accurate.

Where stuff shakes out LT comes down to whether NK & SK enter into a reunification protocol.  Expect 1 Korea to be the real end game, but China will want something huge for that.  Would guess that would be US withdrawl (after reunification) from the peninsula & a guarantee of a certain %age of the mineral rights getting sold to Chinese firms.

Definitely see Western money pouringinto NK during the ST & MT.  Maybe the US has some side deals to let European firms get a leg up here ST to garner more support for Iranian sanctions until the Mullahs fall?

Which reduced gas prices in the US (so long to that!) , ended the Iranian nuclear program for years and led to over expectations by the Iranian people who now are in open rebellion against that government. Not bad.

And well, Trump has called Kim honorable...?

Now, now, let's not forget Obama's other great move: putting five terrorists back into the fight in exchange for a Bowe Berghdahl.

No one negotiated like Obama. If you like your negotiation, you can keep your negotiation!
