Before attending a concert, do you look up what the setlist has been like for that tour, or do you like to be surprised? I'd rather not know but I always check. Can't help myself. I have a lot of respect for the bands that play a different set every night. Only thing you know walking in is what they won't be playing. Quote

NoSaint Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Almost always glance. Often my gf won’t know the bands as well so it’s a good excuse to hone in on some tunes the week or two prior to help make sure she is familiar with what we’re actually seeing. He appeared to be having trouble with his monitor earpieces. They all left the stage twice and came back. Apparently the 2nd of these meant the start of encores but it wasn't obvious and the crowd sure didn't react like usual. Thats cause you were at a daughtry concert. Did people really want him to come back? Quote
frostbitmic Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Saw Dark Star Orchestra last night at Frontier Field in Rochester ... Solid show as always. Quote

I did it for Chicago and REO Speedwagon because I've heard that Chicago puts on a **** show, and they did. Playing theitlr entire second album from start to finish with a terrible rendition of all their brass and horns it just did not work The crowd mostly sat on their phones and did nothing what a pandered that this was now being considered for the the Grammy Hall of Fame It was just lousy and they only played 3 hits over the course of an hour and 45 minutes Make Me Smile Play Video So Much to Say, So Much to Give Play Video Anxiety's Moment Play Video West Virginia Fantasies Play Video Colour My World Play Video To Be Free Play Video Now More Than Ever Play Video Movin' In Play Video Poem for the People Play Video In the Country Play Video Wake Up Sunshine Play Video Fancy Colours Play Video Memories of Love Play Video Where Do We Go From Here Play Video It Better End Soon Play Video 25 or 6 to 4 Play Video Beginnings Play Video Dialogue (Part I & II) Play Video If You Leave Me Now Play Video Call on Me Play Video Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? Play Video You're the Inspiration Play Video I'm a Man (The Spencer Davis Group cover) Play Video Street Player Play Video Just You 'n' Me Play Video Hard to Say I'm Sorry / Get Away Play Video Saturday in the Park Play Video Feelin' Stronger Every Day I look at every every set list Quote

frostbitmic Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I think they played the Rochester 1988 show but I'm not certain. If it was, I was at that show way back when. They started out with Alabama Getaway, West LA Fadeaway and Hell in a Bucket, after that things got a little cloudy ? 1 Quote

I saw Dark Star Orchestra a couple summers ago (unreal Grateful Dead cover band). They play entire sets from real GD shows. I reluctantly peeked at their setlist from the show the night before, and it was a show from Winterland ‘77. They played 2 consecutive nights at Winterland in ‘77 (IIRC), so I was pretty sure they would play the second show the night we were going to see them. Turns out they did, and I knew the entire set list before they played. Kind of ruined the show for me. I thought about this a a little I saw Diamond Rio, a 90s country band with a lot of great hits, coming to town and I wanted to make sure there were playing recent music so I just took a brief glance at their setlist. It was awesome with several covers so I booked the tickets they played for almost an hour and 45 minutes and I sang every single song word for word. That's been the only concert this year I was able to do that, save for Willie Nelson which I just couldn't keep up with his slow pace. Quote

Also, is there any truth to the rumor I heard that they didn't play Truckin' in any of the cities mentioned in the song because the crowd cheering for their city mid song would ruin the tone of the show? Yes. That was the former Red Wings Stadium. DSO plays a lot of smaller venues. They have a faithful following, but they aren’t the type of band that’s going to sell out an arena as the main act. I most recently saw them at a place very similar to Water Street Music Hall. Maybe 150 people. I don’t know the answer to your second question. Quote

What a great first show! My first and only was 1993 at Rich Stadium. I think I was 14 years old. My brother allowed me to tag along with he and his friends. That was an eye opening experience for me. ? Quote

Logic Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Saw Dead and Company twice in June. Once at the Gorge (an okay show) and once at Eugene (an absolutely STELLAR show and probably my favorite post Jerry live Dead show experience ever). Seeing Pearl Jam twice at Safeco Field in a few days. Fun times. On a side note...are any Dead fans but me planning to go see Bobby's "Wolf Bros" acoustic trio shows this fall? I can't help myself...I've got an incurable desire for constant live Grateful Dead music, so I'll be going to at least one show. Quote
