Seasons1992 Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Oh no way, RIP Tom. I had an English teacher at OP that let me read The kandy-kolored tangerine-flake streamline baby as a junior, as an "approved biography." Yeah, not so much. But I learned so much about the 60's and the culture. Amazing stories.
TakeYouToTasker Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) Tom Wolfe was incredibly insightful, and his writing was top notch. Among my favorites are: The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, Mauve Gloves & Madmen, Clutter & Vine, The Bonfire of the Vanities , and A Man in Full. I'd recommend all four to anyone searching for a good read. RIP, Tom. Edited May 15, 2018 by TakeYouToTasker 1
row_33 Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Tom enforced the importance that a novel gives us what's inside the minds of characters as their social-status scale rises and falls constantly. What movies cannot come close to achieving
KD in CA Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 If I did one of those stupid Facebook 'Ten books' things, Bonfire of the Vanities would certainly be on that list. It had a significant impact on my view of the world. RIP
Fadingpain Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 He was a really interesting author. I guess he'll be best remembered for "Bonfire of the Vanities" but he wrote so many other good books, some having been been mentioned, and more! RIP
CowgirlsFan Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 RIP Condolences to his family his friends and his fans.
