You can also look at Jordan Matthews  and KB, who had higher production before playing with him, not just WRs who left. Watkins also showed frustration with TT, it wasn’t all great. That’s why I said “for the most part” they had chemistry.

  • Matthews? Who now says he was injured even before being traded by the Eagles, was double-injured the second day of training camp, and was then injured the entire season?
  • Benjamin? He had (32) catches for 14.8 ypc in eight games for the Panthers before the trade, (16) catches for 13.6 ypc in six games for the Bills after the trade. Given his multiple injuries during those six games, inability to practice, questionable almost every game, etc, I see limited significance in that small drop-off.

Another point : I just checked Robert Woods' numbers and was surprised at how small the increase was in LA:

  • 2016 - Bills - 13 games played, 10 games started, 51 catches, 613 yds, 12.0 ypc
  • 2017 - Rams - 12 games played, 11 games started, 56 catches, 781yds, 13.9 ypc

Which led me to compare Watkins / Woods together - 2015 vs 2017, when both were relatively healthy :

  • 2015 - Bills - 60 (SW) + 47 (RW) = 107 catches
  • 2017 - Rams - 39 (SW) + 56 (RW) = 95 catches

As for last season, the team's wide receiver room was like an intensive care ward with various practice squad scrubs drifting in as visitors.

And Jones, of course. But he was so wide-eyed and confused he might just have wandered in by mistake.

I'm not going to miss this for a second.

Hilarious. Bills' fans!!! The only place on Planet Freaking Earth where you can find someone make a negative of NOT throwing interceptions. If we are to take Elroy16 at his word, he'll be darn tickled-pink when Buffalo qbs are regularly throwing it up to the other team again. Bet Peterman made Elroy swoon......

Can confirm, once Clay went down in that game there were exactly 0 receivers with any sort of rapport with Tyrod left on the field. Nobody who instilled any sort of trust whatsoever.

I'm not sure that almost 18 yards/game more in LA, almost 2ypc more as you say, and 5 TDs to compared to only one from last year can be considered a 'small increase'. His stats improved across the board. Granted, he really benefitted from that offense in a way that he didn't in Buffalo, but still.

Check your history.

Watkins started the first two games and was clearly hampered by his foot and sat the next 8 games before coming back for the last 6 games.(The last 5 with Tyrod as EJ started week 17)

If you don't believe who he had at receiver contributed to the fall off in deep balls then I don't know what to tell you.

Then I guess you don't know what to tell me. What you've got there is a justification. Watkins played in eight games. He was healthy enough to get 154 yards in one. And yet he wasn't productive overall in long balls. It's a justification.

Again, Goodwin played in 15 games, Clay played in 15 and was open long.

Tyrod simply wasn't hitting the long balls the way he had been in 2015. You said that the new regime getting rid of Watkins and Woods destroyed his long ball stats. Not true. They were pretty much the same in 2016 as they were in 2017. Bad. And what showed up in the stats was easily visible to the naked eye. Overthrow after overthrow.

Yet again, I hope he solves the problem and does well with the Browns. He's a good guy.

Did you just start watching the Bills in 2017?

The Bills were among the best in the league at deep passing plays before the new regime basically stripped the team of and deep threat/legitimate WR. With a healthy Watkins and Goodwin the guy was GREAT at the deep passing game

?. He checked down practically every time? There's a well thought out statement. I'll say it again. Some fans just don't know what they are watching at the QB position.

Tyrods a solid QB to have if you have some good pieces around him. Cleveland will be a lot better this year. Better than the Bills, IMO.(cue the, "GO BE A BROWNS FAN THEN!" Reaction).

Yes! Tyrod was great -- I remember all of the zero 300 yard passing games he had lighting fools up with that "deep passing game".

Or send it to Cleveland so it doesn’t pass for 60 yards or get choked out by Blake Bortles.

Hue Jackson has to win 6-7 plus games and show a large amount of improvement to stay the head coach.  Taylor with a good run game and defense is the best way for Cleveland to do that. Mayfield will have to completely beat out Taylor.  The biggest learning curve will be snaps under center and play action passes where he will be asked to turn his back to the defense.  After watching Kizer and the offense turn the ball over multiple times in the redzone, it will have to take a crazy preseason to pass Taylor.

I think the Browns have a good chance to go 1-9 in their first 10 games with the only win being vs the Jets. Bye Hue

They start out 0-4 or 1-4 Jackson is fired and Haley takes over and probably becomes the head coach at the end of the season.  When Hue is fired they bench Taylor for Mayfield.

I wouldn't be surprised if they started the season 4-3 or 5-2.
