stevestojan Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 I was in Buffalo this weekend for an interview at Geico. I applied last week, got a call the next day, so decided to fly home this weekend (I just landed back in WPB an hour ago). Anyway, had an hour long interview on Saturday morning. Then came back and had a THREE hour interview today. And right on the spot they offered me the job (as an underwriter). It's not in my field of Marketing, but they pay is surprisingly good, I get a 10% discount on my Car insurance, and the health and dental benefits start the FIRST day you start to work. Anyway, just a bit excited as it just so happens the day I start and the day I leave Florida are 4 days apart (including a weekend). I will miss two days of work during the entire move. You can send your congrats in the form of cash.. :P
Nanker Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Sweet! The fresh air will do you good. Was it your resume that sealed the deal or your scrapbook from your last job?
UConn James Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Get ready for hypothermia and sunburn on the same day. (To answer the question, yes. On a chilly morning and blazing hot afternnon of haying on a dairy farm about 50 miles east of Roch.)
Tux of Borg Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Good... one less person i have to support on welfare.
HopsGuy Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 I would say that your departure would free up more chicks for me, but then again I don't think you're fishing in my pond. (j/k) Good luck with all of that.
Shameless Homer Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Geico has dial up internet. You're screwed.
Stussy109 Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Enjoy the 8 month winters! I've been here 7 years now and its wearing on me enough to want to look elsewhere. Congrats on the job though.
Marv's Neighbor Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 So do you have to wear the lizard outfit very often???
drnykterstein Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 yeah, i just got a pretty well paying job here too. my favorite part is that i got to turn down two other jobs to accept it
Zamboni Man Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Congrats on the new job. btw, I should've listening about Stamos, I saw a picture of the chick he's got under him today in the paper, she's smokin'

If you can get me his autograph I will paypal postage.
VABills Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Yeah congrats. But you think Richard Gere is bad with berbils, wait until you find out what they make you do with the gecko.
gantrules Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Wow, from Marketing to Underwriting? From what I've seen most marketing folks are more like you, outgoing, charismatic whereas most underwriters are quiet and aloof. Congrats, guy! That's awesome you found something so quickly.
CoachChuckDickerson Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Congrats. I hope to follow in your footsteps soon. The Buffalo job market isn't as bad as some make it out. If you have an education and marketable skills you'll land something. Good for you.
elcrusho Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 So wait.... Your leaving Florida to come to Buffalo?
