Unlike the other two most QB needy teams, Browns and Jets, the Bills did not announce a plan for their highly drafted rookie Qb to sit the first year.

I hope and pray he DOESN'T start until after the BRUTAL start to the season.  If we get our teeth kicked in the first 4-5 weeks then get to him.

The entire book on Allen was that he will need 1-2 years to develop before he’s ready to play. That’s why it’s interesting they apparently believe that’s fluid.

I’d be shocked if he doesn’t start during this year

week 1, who knows.

He can play in the December home games.

Allen's like a set of snow tires--just don't put them on too soon or you'll wear the tread down fast...

Glad we hung onto next year's 1st!

If he wins it that would be amazing.

but I’m content with him going slow and no real need to see him until 2020.

Two seasons on the bench with some games.

two seasons as starter.

buffalo picks up the 5th Season option.  And then decide in 2022 whether to give him the $$$$.

IMO the correct response.

It would be rare for a rookie to beat out a vet, just because experience with an NFL offense and study habits with film make the vet more able to grasp the offense quickly.

But the door should be open.

Yeah I truly believe that the Bills brass counted on that and one of the reasons why they did NOT want to offer next year's 1st round pick.

The problem I see with this plan is I'm not sure, in McCarron, that we have a capable starter for 1, let alone 2, seasons.

So I have concern that, despite what Beane says, they WILL rush Allen

Does anyone actually believe that Allen WON'T beat out AJ in camp? Unless they make a concerted effort to sit him out, the job is Josh's to lose.

Depends widely on the scheme. If it’s a complex scheme leaning on intermediate timing routes and anticipatory throws requiring touch... maybe the vet wins August.

but I can’t imagine the kid sitting all year

I was hoping the team would be realistic about what is going on these next 1-2 seasons.
