eball Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 When is rookie minicamp? Couldn't find it on bb.com.

Take it for what it’s worth, but the team has been talking up Peterman. And most of it has been unsolicited. I wouldn’t count him out for the starting quarterback spot while they wait for Allen to develop.

I wouldn’t count him out for the starting quarterback spot while they wait for Allen to develop. It's worth very little. The most concerning aspect of the 5-int game was that on a number of those throws (and I believe a 6th int was dropped), he just heaved it up for grabs because he lacked the arm strength to make a precision pass. He'll be out of the league in a year or two. 1

"The Utes’ leading receiver this past season, Darren Carrington II, had not signed as a free agent as of Sunday evening. Carrington played through a foot injury the final month of the regular season and the bowl game. That injury hampered his pre-draft workouts, including the NFL Combine".

I wouldn’t count him out for the starting quarterback spot while they wait for Allen to develop. They talk up everyone. Saturday they talked up Jordan Mills. Peterman is going to be released, not picked up, and then put on the practice squad. The only fly in that ointment is that he can look good in practice situations, and in preseason when the game is only 3/4 speed. He didn't even look all that good last year in preseason, despite what multitudes here were claiming, as he completed 54% and had one TD and threw a bunch of terrible passes. The good thing about that is AJ will shine in that scenario, and clearly outshine Peterman. We can only hope that Josh's smarts show that he picks up the offense quickly enough to let him pass AJ before the first game. I'd say that is at least a 50-50 proposition.

Didn’t know about the injury, but DC definitely has NFL talent, although he’s a bit of a knucklehead. Should be signed soon.
JoshBarnett Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 To answer eball's question: Rookie minicamp is the end of next week, May 11 ... Also, Chattanooga LB Dale Warren and Middle Tennessee RB Shane Tucker are among the rookie minicamp invites at this point. Up to 7.

Sure. I'm not particularly anti-Peterman. Was just responding to the poster who said he hadn't thrown any passes in the Chargers game (I think he was mixing up which was the 5 int game.) That being said, I think I agree with Kelly the Dog that a lot of his troubles seem to come from lack of arm strength. I was quite interested to watch him play, but I can't say I ended the year feeling at all optimistic that he was going to stick in the league.

He'll be out of the league in a year or two. The picks weren't because of a lack of arm strength, except for arguably the 4th one (the 10-yard out, which I've seen strong-armed QB's do, if they telegraph it, like he did). The others were a deflection, throwing off his back foot in the face of pressure, getting hit while he threw it, and a bad pass/miscommunication. Look, I jumped off his bandwagon after that game and Allen is now the guy I want to see succeed. But Peterman's been working on his arm strength and AJM doesn't have a howitzer either. All I'm saying is that don't pen AJM in as the starter. 54 minutes ago, Kelly the Dog said: They talk up everyone. Saturday they talked up Jordan Mills. Peterman has no chance.. 0%. There are some guys that cannot play in regular season NFL games because of their arm. To me, Peterman is one of those guys. I said it before the Chargers game and it was evident in that game. It was even evident in the final game. I'll just go ahead and say somebody named McDermott thinks you are wrong. So there's that. But I'm sure once the HC stops and has a chance to consult with you, he'll immediately change his mind. 1 1 1

The HC made the decision to start Peterman, BENCHED him at halftime, and then told his team and the general public that it was a big mistake. And the offense regressed. And he is a defensive coach. 2

And based on that, YOU have made the decision he's not as good as DII QB after you've spent 5 minutes watching a highlight film from Shippensburg State. Whatever. HC went out of his way to compliment NP after the season; heck AFTER THE GD SD GAME he wasn't sure that he wouldn't start him again. It's not like he said get away from me you loser. Then in the last season of the year - hey, he could have gone with Webb. He hadn't seen Webb play, maybe he would have wanted to find out about the guy. No. He went with Peterman. Please. Stop it. Nate had a bad game against a superior opponent, on the road, and the OL had their worst day of the year. Put away the torch.

He was bad long before the game, right before the game, especially during the game, and after the game. Coaches rarely acknowledge they made a dumbass move and ours all but apologized to his team for being a dumbass and starting NP.
