jarthur31 Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 John Mulkern (Blasdell, NY): Now that Doug Flutie has been released by the San Diego Chargers, and given the strikingly similarities that J.P. Losman shares with Doug Flutie, also the positive benefits the Bills will redeem by having Flutie on the roster (leadership, ticket sales, etc) would it not make sense to have Doug mentor the young J.P. Losman? Everyone I have asked agrees. How about you? TD: Doug Flutie provided some exciting moments in our franchise history that our fans will always remember and we have great admiration for him and his career, but we have never seen him as a mentor. Currently, J.P. has two very good mentors in coach Sam Wyche and Kelly Holcomb. Some people will never believe this when blinded by their adoration of one person. We need a team player who hasn't reached the zenith of his career but this kind of logic doesn't register for them. What a pity. Joe Cumbo (Rochester, NY): Why didn't you even make a lowball offer to Jonas Jennings? You said he was asking for too much but he said you guys never even offered him anything. Who are you going to find to replace him at the most crucial position on the offensive line? TD: Last summer during training camp we did make a significant offer to Jonas' agent. His agent told us at the time they were looking for a double-digit signing bonus which we were not going to do in training camp, during the season or after the season. We will continue to look at ways to add and upgrade our offensive line. There are many prospects in the upcoming draft that our scouts and coaches are very excited about. Giving an average lineman like Jennings Orlando Pace type money is ridiculous and this Joe Cumbo needs to be called out. Does Joe think we would match San Fran's offer???!!! I agree our line is diminished greatly w/o him but it's really assinine to throw $$$ to players who prob may never make the PB.
