Some mocks had him going in the 50's

Great value for Beane and the Bills at 96 and it fills a big need and creates some competition with A Washington for playing time.

Love the pick.

Great pick. Think the Bills did a terrific job of staying BPA and looking at where the board left them value and not reaching for need. Everyone knows they need depth at receiver and corner but the talent worthy of a day two pick had kind of hollowed out there. Staying on point and taking Harrison Phillips was a win.

Other than poor old Maurice Hurst who it looks like might not get drafted (though if he is there in the 7th you absolutely take him) he was the BPA by my board.

Checked it - 42 reps on the bench?  42????!!!  Strong AF

That sick. Hes the run stopper to close the lanes RBs were running free through last season.

CBS had the bills taking Allen at 4.

The raiders takings Harrison Phillips at 10, and Edmunds going to Miami at 11. I’d say we’re killing it.

I'd say CBS is NOT killing it...

Maybe this is why he dropped....still well worth the pick

Analysis

Phillips is one of the more polarizing prospects in the 2018 NFL Draft’s DT class. It all comes down to how highly you value his production and his high-effort style of play. Those traits are valuable, but they don’t make an elite prospect on their own. Phillips’ lack of high-end athletic ability makes him a limited player in the NFL, and I’m not sure that I see him as anything more than an average NFL starter.

There is room for improvement with Phillips: his hand technique is still pretty raw, and he could certainly become an above-average run defender by more consistently playing with better leverage. But his size and frame likely limit him to a role as 3T in the NFL—and if he isn’t a plus pass rusher, that means he’s a base package player only. There is certainly room for a player like Phillips on an NFL roster as a base package 3T with potential for growth, but those types of players don’t demand high draft selections.

A team could certainly benefit from adding a player like Phillips in the Day 2 range, as he’s ready to start right away on base packages and would provide valuable depth to the defensive line. I just don’t understand the first round hype that Phillips has been getting, as he’s clearly a prospect with fairly limited upside—particularly as a pass rusher.

So here's what the experts said in 2006 about Meatball.  Almost verbatim what they say about Horrible Harry!

Full Name:
Kyle Williams         School: LSU
Ht:
6-1     Wt: 295
40: 5.25     Yr: 4Sr
Pos: Hard working, scrappy defender who plays with
good fundametals. Quick off the snap, gets leverage on opponents and displays
solid hand technique. Tenacious, goes hard until the whistle blows and chases to
get involved in the action. Displays an array of moves getting off blocks.
Makes plays laterally up and down the line of scrimmage.
Neg: Not strong at the point and driven off the ball
by opponents. Marginal skills as a pass rusher.
Analysis: A high revving defender, Williams' ability to
get leverage on opponents gives him an upper hand. May never be a starter at the
next level yet his tenacity and approach to the game will find him a spot on an
NFL roster.

Wow!   That is one hell of a compiliation.     He's going to be a great padawan for Kyle...

They probably said the same thing about Kyle. His instincts are off the chart.

I see that.

He seems to have the rare ability to quickly diagnose the play, follow the ball, and disengage to make the tackle.  100 tackles for a DT is impressive.  May not be a plus athlete, but the kid is a football player.

I don't see Kyle's ridiculous first step, but I think HP will be much more stout.

Love, love, love this pick.  Unlike a player I won’t name, he actually produce first round results against good competition. I love Stanford guys, true student athletes.

Minus is possibly the most important pick in Bills’ history, I love our draft.  And that is what worries me about having a defensive head coach be so involved with personnel.  I will trust them on defense but man, so far their offensive evaluations have been bad (OC choice, Matthews as a #1, Zay).
