That's my feeling as well if CLE passes on him.  If I were a Giants fan, I'd be super pissed if my team passed on a quarterback...

Only wild card I see from NYG is going Barkley at #2, then aggressively trying to trade up from 33 to the late 1st for "BQBA"

Enough with mediocre QBs.

If those 3 are taken and those teams won’t trade us, then we may not have a choice

I don't know, Jay. He said "Book it"! That's as sure a bet as exists in the world!

If Mayfield goes #1 I think we're screwed.

Allen going #1 was great. Darnold going #1 was fine.

If Mayfield goes #1, I think it's more likely than not that QBs go 1-2-3 and we'll be in serious trouble.

It all now hinges on the Giants. Do they trade out to us, do they take Darnold or do they take Barkley. UGH!

talking about it on WGR, says Dorsey just messing with people and he will pick Darnold and Jets want Mayfield and have already installed Oklahoma type plays in their playbook

I know what I'd do.

It's a super deep running back class and they'll have several elite options available in round 2.

The same can't be said about the QB class.

Ugh.

Eli is 37 and hasn't been good in years. Davis Webb is just a guy until he proves otherwise.

They have an opportunity to solidify the QB position for the next 10+ years. No chance they pass that up.

This is complete and utter hyperbole.  Just two years ago Eli led the Giants to an 11-5 record and threw for 4,000 yards.

If you think their GM and Coach are worried about ten years from now you havent paid much attention to the NFL.   It's a year by year business.   Eli Manning in the near term, and thats what counts in trying to keep your job is a much better option than a rookie quarterback.   If the Giants draft a QB at #2 who probably doesnt see the field until next year, the GM and Coach are already wasting two years of their contracts waiting for a QB to get good, if he does.

Then we are !@#$ed...  If it goes Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, we made a massive mistake not going up to 3

Indy wanted the 6 pick they did not want ot trade back to 12, that is the reality of that trade

Don't buy it.  Sounds like they are still taking calls to move down again.

No matter what the projections say, I find in very unusual and unlikely that Barkley, or any other RB for that matter will go in the top 5 (or 10 for that matter). This simply has not been the trend in recent years. Regardless of the way QB plays out, if the Giants do not trade out of #2, they will not be taking Barkley at 2. Chubb is a real possibility for them there, but they could get more draft capital and still get a day-1 starter by trading out. My prediction is that we will see Barkley fall out of the top 10, not one of the QBs.

We will see in just a few more hours!

The only problem with this line of thinking, which is usually the case, is that Barkley is considered “generational“, literally a “franchise running back”. He is seen as markedly better than any other RB in this draft.

Klemko has Darnold to CLE at #1,  Mayfield to NYJ at #3, Allen to DEN at #5, and Rosen to BUF at #6.

Best case scenario IMO.  Especially if we hold on to the 2019 1st and 22.  It's going to be stressful waiting it out tonight.

He reportedly filled the front office/coaching staff in on who the pick is yesterday.

And his QB Rating was 86, good for 22nd in the NFL.

Manning is at the end of the line. They need a long term solution who can push for his job in case he plays poorly again.

They can get an elite RB in round 2.

Sure.

But how many teams are building around RBs these days?

QB >>>> RB

Gettleman seems like an archaic NFL exec so let's hope he takes Barkley

Sal Capaccio quoted him stating his philosophy as "Run, stop the run, and rush the passer."  Sounds like Barkley or Chubb.
