K D Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 he said he would retire if he was wrong about Jimmy Clausen being a top QB: http://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/mel-kiper-said-hed-retire-2018-jimmy-clausen-wasnt-successful-nfl-qb-well.html how does this guy still have a job? 1 3 2
T master Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Someone should look back to see how accurate this so called "Football experts" predictions have been i remember when the Bills took Cordy Glenn he said he was not starting caliber LT that he was better suited for the RT position . Well There You Go !! Mel's wisdom at work ... 3
K D Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 his #1 QB this year is Josh Allen. so we can now guarantee that Allen will be a gigantic BUST
PromoTheRobot Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Kiper was literally that nerdy kid living in his mom's basement who invented the concept of draft geek. He is patient zero. The original. His spawn populates every newspaper, sports channel, blog and website. Kiper invented a job where being wrong does not affect your credibility. 5
ToGoGo Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Half the people on ESPN shouldn't be in front of a camera talking about sports. The ones that should like ex-players and coaches, are terrified to say anything off-script. We need a new sports channel, and Fox/NBC are not the answer. 1
Mojo44 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Well, whatever else you can say about him he has certainly fashioned himself a nice career. If I had known this years ago I could have saved a lot of time and money by not going to graduate school for five years and becoming a well paid draft guru. So what if I wasn’t very good at it? 1 2

Joel Buchsbaum preceded Kiper a bit, but yeah, he's a founder no question. auburnbillsbacker Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 The only thing Mel Kiper needs to be his entertaining. His track record isn't much worse than most of the Bills GMs. 1
eball Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 "Draft Expert" is one of the most amazing jobs ever created. In what other vocation can a person be completely wrong more often than not yet face no accountability and no repercussions? They all treat their position the way a starting CB treats his, except instead of "forget the last play" it's "forget what I said last year." 3

Called him one of his best friends in the SI article and went to his funeral. Their 24/7 work ethic was probably the bond that made the relationship go... 1
Big Turk Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 A guy with no qualifications who pitched the draft coverage idea to ESPN a lomg time ago

You've gotta admit there's a certain amount of genius here. He invented his own career and has made millions. And while he doesn't evaluate players as well as NFL scouting departments, he doesn't need to. He just needs to know the players better than the average fan so he can tell us something new. And he's good at this. He does tons of research and then makes (often bad) prognostications. It's all kind of entertaining. 1 2
