I agree, they seem to struggle more at the beginning of the seasons

I sincerely hope we don’t open at NE or home against them for that matter

I would love to play New England the 1st week of season. Get one of our toughest games out of the way early in the season. They would not have any tape on our new offense(Daboll will have his own wrinkles, compared to when he was in NE). Plus, I also feel their Defense is a good start to hopefully get our offense off to a good start. Not to mention, it will be the freshest/healthiest shady will be all year. Let's catch them off guard like the chiefs did last year. And nobody wants to go to Gillette later in the year.

We’ve always assigned to that thinking and it’s never worked. The last two times we’ve had them in the opener (Leodis and EJ) we came close only to experience soul crushing losses as usual. I more thinking about it from my partying at the home opener perspective- what we really all should care about here

I always feel the NE openers are our best chances to surprise them. That's why it makes it even more painful when we inevitably lose. But maybe not this year!

Remember the Lawyer Milloy game?  We stole one even though they were the better team, because it was week 1.

Oh man, 31-0 with big Sam Adams rumbling up the field!

Only to end the season getting beat 31-0. Ruben Brown stayed home for the game and the Pats went on to win the Super Bowl.

Bills.

Painful game last time we opened at New England.  Why Leodis?  Why?  Awesome jerseys on both sides though.  Schobel and Jackson were beasts.

Ruben Brown stayed home? What was the story there?

He and Gregg Williams didnt get along. Greggo's contract was up and Ruben didnt feel like playing for an a-hole who was on his way out. IIRC, they both agreed it was best if he just stayed home. That's how I remember it anyways.

Always better to play them early before they get their cheating tapes.

Ha. I can definitely see that happening from both sides.

Yeah, it was bad from the start. Ruben had been around since the Levy days, part of some real good teams with a relaxed atmosphere and a poet grandfather as HC. Ruben fit that culture well. Then Greggo came in with his 6am air horns and didnt win jack. That wasnt going to work out.

No doubt the Patriots sometimes get out of the gate a little slow, and seem to only strengthen into unbeatable form as the season matures...but...an opening season game in Foxboro = Bills loss, and we all know it.

Not the best way to get some momentum going.
