RIP Bruno Sammartino

Recommended Posts

Great entertainer

I read that he was offered an ownership interest when Jr took it big, but turned it down to keep his salaried position.

Potentially worth a lot of money lost, but he got out when he wanted to and railed against the product in his later days.

From a wrestling magazine in the 60's, and I am doing this from memory.

"Few who witnessed it will forget Bruno Sammartino picking up and throwing 400 pound Haystacks Calhoun out of the ring."

Different time.

I never understood it.  I was only a wrestling fan in the early 70s.  My favorite was Ladd...................And, I used to get some of the magazines, and they'd always feature Bruno.  But, I never saw him on TV and I never saw him at the bouts I would go to (sometimes taken by Ilio Dipaolo because I was friends with his daughter)..............We got Haystacks, Ernie, Bobo, all them but I never saw Bruno.
