whatdrought Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 I wonder if being a rotational player will help Shaq have more impact on the defense? Definitely looks like he is making sure they don't cut him.

Heitz Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Lotta batted balls for Shaq this summer - let's hope that we continue to see that during the season...

BillsFan17 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Have to like what we are seeing/reading about Lawson
billieve420 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Would like to see how this D-line perform against a good offensive line. I am not expecting much from our O-line and hope at the very least they can become average over time.

BurpleBull Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Maybe Lawson finds success being used from the 5-technique, like the Bengals with Justin Smith.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 From Matthew Fairburn: Another strong day for Shaq Lawson Trent Murphy sat out another practice with a groin injury, and Lawson took advantage. While working with the first-team defense, Lawson had another sack and another batted pass. Lawson has already shown the ability to get his hands on passes at the line of scrimmage and stuff the run, but the added pass rush in the last few weeks has been encouraging. He’ll need to show he can do that during games to warrant significant snaps in the defensive end rotation, but Lawson seems to have responded well to offseason criticism. From Joe B: Shaq Lawson taking advantage of an opportunity - On the flipside of Foster, former first-round pick Shaq Lawson showed well on Monday. It was quite crucial for Lawson to do so because starting defensive end Trent Murphy had to miss the practice due to a groin injury, which led to more first-team time for Lawson. He's been up and down at camp through the first ten days, but Monday was one of his 'up' days. Lawson did well in team drills to force the pocket back, and he's still cross-training at defensive tackle on third down situations, which means he's still in the plans for a regular rotational role with the team. I'd like to see him be more consistently impactful as a pass rusher, as he tends to try and bull rush his way into the backfield far too often. However, he's playing with confidence and even batted down a pass today, too. Considering how many of the Doug Whaley draft picks he's seen walk out the door, Lawson knows this is a crucial preseason for him and his future with the Bills.

26CornerBlitz Posted August 10, 2018 Author Posted August 10, 2018 From Sal Capaccio's Arrow Up/ArrowDown: DE Shaq Lawson With Trent Murphy‘s injury making him unavailable to play, Lawson was presented with a huge opportunity to prove he’s a player this team can rely on to be a big contributor. He took that opportunity and ran with it, showing up in both the run and passing game on defense. I really liked his effort all night long, which is something people have questioned about him in the past. 2
billsfan_34 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Shaq Lawson could not shed blockers, lacks burst, and can’t get to the QB. As far as ive seen, the only thing he does OK is contain. I have a feeling his days may be numbered.
wppete Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Shaq looked good last night against the Panthers. 1
