The best way to liven up TNF is to have it set up with bye so teams are not competing with 3 days preparation.

I could handle it then, 3 days rest/prep is not enough time.

money. greed has it's ways of overlooking logic.

Hope they still wear them once a year

@MikeGarafolo: On color rush, the uniforms aren't going away completely. It's just that they might not be exclusive to Thursday nights anymore, sources say. Could be some other tweaks to the uniform policy as well. Also, this is subject to votes from ownership.

Not every team has throwbacks due to the NFL rule on having only one helmet color.

There is NOT a rule about having only one helmet color.  The rule is for safety purposes supposedly you can not change helmets mid season but teams have in past painted helmets and then went back to original scheme afterwards but it is a time consuming process teams usually do not want to go through.

There appears to be a lot of confusion surrounding the NFL’s rule regarding multiple helmets. What follows is an FAQ-style explainer that attempts to sort out the facts from the misconceptions.

When was the rule enacted?

The rule came to light in September of 2013, when the Buccaneers announced that their “Bucco Bruce”-era throwbacks, which they had planned to wear later that month, were being scrapped because the NFL had quietly approved a recommendation by two of the league’s advisory panels — the Head, Neck, and Spine Committee and the Player Safety Advisory Panel — that limited teams from switching helmets during the season. The Buccaneers’ normal helmets are pewter and the throwback helmets were white, so wearing the throwback uniforms would have necessitated a new set of helmets. Teams had routinely used new helmet sets for throwback games in the past, but it was no longer possible under the new rule.

I would rather have an extra Monday Night game than the weekly Thursday Night. But, agree abolishing Thursday night games all together would be the best thing.

I actually really like the way the opening week sets up with the typical doubleheader on a Monday night. That might also be the only time that TNF doesn't put one (or both) teams at a competitive disadvantage. I like the Thursday game in Week 1 as a standalone opening ceremony for the season, if you will.

Let the midweek be for other sports and CFB.

Yes and I as stated you need to use same helmet but that does NOT prevent repainting.

In effect it does because from a practical satndpoint no team is going to do that for one game.

I know it was done for a team in past but there may have been a bye involved.  Remember watching and being surprised but not that interested to remember game.

Can we also get rid of the Pink stuff too?

I'm all for cancer awareness, but there are better ways to get the message across, than having NFL players wear pink gloves.

Actually I'd rather it be optional for players rather than mandatory so players who want to support cause can and others do not need to jusr because it being an official charity.

Wanger also said that the game schedule for Thursday night will be stronger than it’s been in the past. That may be news to CBS and NBC, which could see their Sunday slates become less potent if the NFL pushes “better” games to Thursday nights.

Many have complained about and/or lampooned the Color Rush concept, which was subtly downplayed last year with the league quietly allowing teams like Washington (which had a garish yellow-on-yellow getup) to not go through with it.

This won’t stop teams from embracing the Color Rush concept on their own. Last week, the Titans unveiled an array of uniforms that includes the light-blue-on-light-blue Smurf look, specifically dubbed the team’s “Color Rush” uniforms.

So while Color Rush may be dead as a mandatory, across-the-board program, it will still exist as a voluntary, periodic, alternate uniform program. And if Thursday night is going to become even more special, maybe that’s when teams will choose on their own to wear them.

If you're going to impose this on us die-hard fans, give us some damn gimmicks!

Exactly. The NFL is oversaturating their own market. Keep Thursday football confined to Thanksgiving and a few other special late-season games.

Every team getting a participation trophy with crap uniforms only leads to a lot of bad games.

TNF is a better ratings winner than MNF.  Doesn't need these silly uniforms.

I'd imagine we get at least one more year out of them as the Titans unveiled new ones last week UNLESS they are just turned into alts
