Rob's House
I didn't keep a stopwatch on it, but it seemed like the red team dominated time of possession for the first and third periods.
Sweats
I was a little disappointed with the officiating.......Miller gets an elbow to the face, ends up with a broken nose and zero call. The refs let a lot of the Caps calls slide, however with that being said, Washington played one hell of a game and hopefully Ovie can finally hoist the cup. After the first 5 minutes, yes they did. VGK came out fast and furious which got them pinging the goal posts and one with a practically empty net! they are playing hard but "Puck Luck" hasn't going their way these past 3 games. Who knows if the Ref's had not missed the interference on the cross check that gave the VGN's a goal in game one, or being over officious against Wilson the series just might be over. People are complaining about Wilson being a thug... Reaves and a few knights are just as bad. was is Marchessault that slapped Wilson on the face as the ref was escorting them both off? 13 minutes ago, Sweats said: I was a little disappointed with the officiating.......Miller gets an elbow to the face, ends up with a broken nose and zero call. Vegas isn't a team of Angels by a long shot. Edited June 5, 2018 by ShadyBillsFan

They definitely are not the same team. Caps aren't doing anything special. I kinda spotted it from the outset that for whatever reason, this is not the same team. I don't get it. Not playing anything like they were. Not using speed. No aggression. 22 hours ago, ShadyBillsFan said: Oh and wish. If you had season ticks $200. If not pick a number between $1200 and $2000. The refs are letting them play. There have been embarrassing moments. Mostly in game 1. aka letting them cheat. Still don't get it. Super flawed logic. By that I mean we have seen genuine hatred by one team against another, personal feuds between a few players flaring up throughout a series, post-whistle scrums and shoving matches...fights...selfish fights born of emotion and with little regard to whether or not the ensuing penalty will hurt the team... This stuff has been back in the playoffs b/c players are playing at 100% with emotion and are truly competing for victories. This is now the only time of the season when we see this. It's completely absent from NHL regular season games now, and it's been that way for a long time. 20 or 30 years ago, the culture of the league was much different and we used to see this stuff all the time. It's interesting to note the rough stuff is still alive and well, despite most of the tough guys having been eliminated from the league. Most NHL regular season games have the look/feel of an inconsequential pre-season game. Players play at maybe 7/10 and seem to operate under an agreement, most nights, not to bother the other team too much and vice versa. Enjoy these playoffs while they last! The players make too much money now to really engage in anything during the regular season. You'll see it on occasion when someone takes liberties but mostly it's really contained inside an individual game, instead of playing out across the regular seasons series. I kinda spotted it from the outset that for whatever reason, this is not the same team. I don't get it. Not playing anything like they were. Not using speed. No aggression. The Caps are playing like a well oiled machine; fast and aggressive with very good defense. They took a page out of VGK's book and are using it against them. IMO, in the past they were focused on offense and the defense let them down; that has changed this post season. In post game interviews a couple of Caps players have mentioned that they're trying some different things to keep Vegas off balance, and it's working. I suspect that Vegas is not used to a team playing this aggressively against them and actually being down in a series with their backs against the wall...they don't know how to handle it, but we'll see Thursday night where it is a must win for them. I personally think VGK loses. 6 hours ago, Dante said: aka letting them cheat. Still don't get it. Super flawed logic. I agree with @ShadyBillsFan that the refs are letting them play and not trying to decide the game, which is a refreshing change from, say, any team vs the Patriots*. The refs may miss a tripping or cross checking call (such as Reaves' cheap goal) here and there but I don't think they're letting anyone cheat. (an assumption on my part) Look at it this way... the team that defeated your team may soon be the Champs. Some of the greatest players in history are on the verge of history. Fadingpain
I have been pulling for Vegas! The idea of an expansion team taking the Cup in their first year, when other middling franchise like the Sabres can't get the job done in 50 years, is hilarious. I am still holding out hope for a Vegas comeback. If any team could do it, it's them. Their whole story has been too good to be true all year, why stop now? Wish this had been a better series, but maybe that all turns around tonight. I don't think Vegas will lose tonight on home ice. They dominated the last game despite losing. They've had some trouble finding the back of the net. They need to score first as they have been doing these playoffs, get the momentum/crowd going...and finish the Caps off. Live to fight another day. On June 5, 2018 at 7:50 PM, Alaska Darin said: The players make too much money now to really engage in anything during the regular season. Rob Ray talks about this theme consistently during his spots with Schopp and Bulldog on Sabres game days. It's not just "fighting" that is gone now...it's much more than that. There is an entirely different culture among competing players in the league now relative to when Rob played. It's all go along to get along and not nearly as confrontational/competitive as it used to be. The atmosphere in most buildings around the league, on most regular season nights puts you to sleep. Anyway, enough of that for now. We should have a heck of a good game tonight....unless Vegas blows the Caps out, which is possible. Don't think it will go the other way. Augie
Congrats to the CHAMPS! I don’t care much, but I was kind of hoping Vegas could do it. Some old friends live their now and we visited a while back. They seemed very attached to something “theirs” that wasn’t casino oriented. Hard to describe, but very real. GREAT season, regardless!
K-9
Nothing better than playoff hockey. Happy for Ovie. And congrats to Vegas for their success; what a story they were and what a Godsend to that city when it needed it most.
DC Tom
Glad Vegas didn't win...with the Sabres bottom-dwelling, I'm not sure I could have handled an expansion team winning the Cup. Still...Vegas has nothing to be ashamed of. Years from now, people will remember the Caps winning a championship primarily because if "Oh yeah, that was the Golden Knights miracle season..."
