No disputing, we need a QB, BUT we also need so many other players that a huge move up, for a QB, seems very unwise.

Nobody is happy with the prospect of trading numerous picks to move up, but imagine the feeling after the draft if we go into the season with AJ and Peterman as our QB's. I wouldn't be too encouraged about the upcoming season, or 2019 for that matter.

I dont know if Spending quality picks to move up is the right move or not, but I know that there are only about 8 top end qbs in the league right now and to expect 5 to come out in this draft is statistically not reasonable.

All the more reason to get to number 2. Try to get the best or 2nd best prospect.

It had been too long since a new "the price of moving up for a QB is too high! (and I'm not very keen on Josh Allen)!" thread popped up.

The NFL is torturing us---they need to move the draft way up.

Worse than the feeling going into the season will be the feeling that lasts over the next 10 years as we watch QBs we could have had lead their teams to the playoffs every year.

Regardless of when it started, the point still stands, the Bills can sign FAs. I'll never argue that Buffalo is more attractive than LA, and we certainly do have to deal with that, but we can sign FAs as needed. There isnt that big of a difference.

and we don't need to sign the big name free agents. Poyer and Hyde have shown that.

We won't be higher than pick 10 after the 2018 season. I can't imagine the sick feeling I'll have if we go into 2018 with AJ and Peterman, and then look to see how we can get a QB in the 2019 draft. Ugh. Missed opportunities.

Get. It. Done. Beane.

Yep, it's just the reality of the situation we are in. We need a QB...desperately.

1st round QB's are far more miss than hits. Bills were an ugly 9-7 team and have many needs.

If the price to move up is giving up 1st 4 picks this year and next years 1st, that is too steep. imo.

...uh oh....a voice of reason......gonna be a tough sell around these parts bud......

what's a reasonable alternative? How else to we address the QB situation? Hope one lands with us at 12?

Because history has proven otherwise. As long as you land THE guy, you'll quickly forget the price we paid.

In 2004, we were offering at least our #22 #13, our 2nd, and 2005 1st to move up for Rothlisberger. Texans got cold feet and backed out. Had we thrown in more picks, let's say 2005 2nd and 2006 1st, to make them an offer they couldnt refuse, would we really have missed Parrish and Whitner (the guys we got with those additional picks) if it meant having Big Ben over the past 14 years?

Everyone talks about all the players we could get and holes we could fill. Would you trade Lee Evans, JP Losman, Roscoe Parrish, and Donte Whitner for Ben Rothlisberger? I would.

....tell me which one of the purported "top dawgs" comes with a warranty, money back guarantee as well as refund of expended draft capital if he busts, and I can try to answer your question.......feebly though...........

Worth the shot. Wentz and Goff too.

None, and neither do any of the "hole fillers" we draft either. But sooner or later you need to put on your big boy pants and go for it.

I think Goff got super lucky with a coaching change. Hc is just as important.

those are the qualifiers for trading up? Come on - we need a QB,  Beane trusts his scouts, trusts his own eyes and feels the particular QB is worth it, you have to try to get him. We really , really need a QB.

still a good pick, and they are super bowl contenders now.

It certainly is, and a lot of people will tell you that the HC decisions broke RG3. So we're right back to where I started. Shoot your shot at the top dogs, or be left sniffing their asses.

it may be hindsight on that particular situation, but it's a common scenario with same risk / reward available each draft. It's a fair argument.

...certainly cede your point regarding "history", ugly lore at that......BUT......and although on paper so far, my (large) gut tells me we potentially could have the best FO/Admin/Coaching Staff in place since the Polian era with McBeane/McD/McDaboll......on Pegula's nickel, McBeane assembled 17+ veteran NFL personnel execs on his staff (of course the Negative Nellies will say no one else wanted to hire them)...sure this is their first draft together, but I'd like to think this gang mirrors the name of the stadium as in "New Era Field" versus woeful "old hat history" which haunted us for 17+ years....stay tuned....

I hope so too, and I hope that means the New Era guys are smart enough to do what it takes to get THE guy instead of settling for Losman again.

I thimk what makes it tough for Bills fans is you have no idea what offense is going to be ran. So its difficult to say x y or z will work

There is a happy medium here .. I hope ... in the way the draft unfolds ... move into picks 6-9 and get a quality QB ... right now we have 4 guys and no one has separated themselves from one another depending on which pundant you listen too (Darnold, Mayfield, Rosen, Allen) ... you have to figure Chubb and Barkley get taken in the top 5 picks .. so one of those guys has to drop to 6 or later.

this is how i hope it will go  only give up the other 1st and have four more picks in top 100  gotta go LB,WR,OLand CB or maybe LB again..ideal scenario  if there is a run on QB,s then ya gotta jump to 4 and not look back    that solves it for ya folks
