GrizzReaper Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Manziel sure screwed himself good... Cap will get a shot before him. Or neither will.

Then he shows up in Cleveland, and there is no one to teach him. They just expected him to learn it all himself, starting from square one. He could have spent off season with consultants since he was paid as round 1 pick rather than partying. There are plenty of ex-QBs he could have paid who could have helped him IF HE CHOOSE TO GO THAT ROUTE. He was just a Billy Joe Hobert from Texas.

Never cared for Manziel, even in college. Just wanted to point out how important it is to have a good place built for developing rookie QBs. Especially since we'll (hopefully) be watching a rookie qb soon.

Personally, I think it was an absolute joke and the ruined any chance of him developing. But the difference is EJ was at least hard working and wanted to succeed. Johnny destroyed his own development. He is just another entitled rich kid who finds ways to blame others. I could be wrong but I think he is using the partying as a reason why he didn’t succeed. He just isn’t good enough and the Browns wasted a pick on him. I agree. I’ve always wondered how much of his “addiction” stuff is bs. I’m not ignorant to the reality of addiction, and us third party observers can’t make that judgment. He just seems so spoiled that I’ve always wondered if the partying was a choice rather than a necessity.

Did you hear his excuses for not going to the CFL? They weren't offering enough money or gaurentees it seems. Guy is totally clueless. Frankly, he sounded high during the interview. When Dan asked him how long he had been sober there was a long awkward pause , eventually he said four months, then changed it to he couldnt remember. I didn't believe a bit of the BS he slung, and I was stunned that others did. He's still partying and getting high, I'd gaurentee it. His voice was that of a hungover manupulator, not a contrite recovering victim. Edited April 5, 2018 by RichRiderBills

He supposedly has desire to get back to the NFL and now he throws the organization he played for under the bus. I thought you admired candor in quarterbacks, even if they say stupid, ridiculous things?

KRT88 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 A friend of mine told me JM would be huge and he'd become star. I laughed and said NO WAY, the guy can't set his feet, scan the field and make a throw. He makes everything up on the spot. Then you add in the spoiled little rich kid syndrome, how could it have ever ended any other way?

Once people have bought into a player, often based on media hype, they are oblivious to the warning signs.

Right but when it won you a heisman and got you picked in the first do you think you have to change? The browns shouldve known who he was and planned accordingly. Similarly - if considering him now you need to expect a learning curve on and off the field. You have to build a support system.... but if paying 180m to a roster what’s a couple bucks for some specialists to devise customized plans for guys

Additionally, our training to analyze that film or reporting is extremely limited and under-developed. We arent sitting down with these guys to interview them. Even the best of us dont see the same things on tape the pros look for. It's a nice hobby, but we arent anywhere even close to the pros. This was true 5 years ago but not anymore. The availability of top quality game film and platforms for talented scouts to share their knowledge has made things different.
