I don't think they can afford to turn down all of those picks to get a player that will sit on the bench for 2 yrs and not help the team With an aging, soon to be retired QB, they would be foolish to turn down an opportunity to get a franchise QB. Those opportunities are so rare, you have to take it while you can. Its really the type of thinking that has kept teams like the Bills locked in mediocrity for so long because its just always too expensive to pull the trigger on a big trade. If that's the case, they don't need to trade out of #2, and we're screwed. They get their 2 early picks and can afford to stock up at QB. Oh yeah, I believe we’re screwed in terms of the trade up to 2. I think we’re desperate for a QB but, sadly, not desperate enough to pay this year’s ransom to get there. While I’d love to get one of the top 4 QBs, I think we may be out of luck unless one falls out of the top 5.

If you don't have the guts for gambling, get out of the casino. You are suggesting they get a franchise QB for 2-3 yrs down the road. These guys might not have jobs in 2-3 yrs if they only win 3 games like last year. They would be setting up the next regime for success rather than helping themselves. Unless they had some kind of guarantee on job security (good luck with that) they are going to want to build a team to win now, not later Edited March 28, 2018 by kdiggz

Getting a top QB prospect this year and a host of other picks to help rebuild what's in place would be the best move he can make imo. Trading Beckham leaves a huge hole. With FA all but done they have to try and draft a replacement. Shepherd isn't really a huge threat at this point and Marshall is 79 years old. Jackson can sit and learn from Eli for 1-3 years.Would be a good spot for his development imo. I hear you. Given everything Ive seen over the years, I rarely make definitive or absolute statements about the futures of rookies. But whether he can throw the ball or not, I dont see Jackson lasting more than 3 starting season given his build and frame. He's by far the slenderest of all recent mobile QBs, even thinner than RG3 and Mariota. RG3 made a quick exit from injuries, and Mariota is always banged up. I just dont see Jackson surviving long.

If for example, 4 QBs go in the top 5, Buffalo can take their star LB at #12 and then make a much smaller and cheaper move up from #22 to get Lamar if they so desire. All of the trade chips that Buffalo has accumulated doesn't necessarily need to be in order to move up from #12. If the Bills think Lamar is worth trading up from 22 for, then they should just take him at 12 instead of the supposed “star LB”.

They certainly could go QB at 5, but if the draft unfolds like this, Denver will be sorely tempted to trade back with someone like Buffalo.
Freddie's Dead Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 This has like, NEVER happened in the NFL Draft EVER! That's why it's not only possible, but likely....

TheFunPolice Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 I at least want the 340 lb DT as a consolation prize...
Nihilarian Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 I think ALL the QB needy teams are looking at Sam Darnold who is a full grade above every other QB in this year's draft. And if he goes first in the first pick then everything changes with the Giants, Jets. I think the Giants are sitting there looking at Darnold too and should the Browns take him they will go Chubb to replace JPP. I'm not so sure that the Jets want a QB other than Darnold and if he isn't available then perhaps they go, RB Saquon Barkley. #1) Darnold #2) Chubb #3) Barkley #4) Fitzpatrick #5) Allen, Rosen or Mayfield to Denver. Buffalo could move up to take whoever is left @ #6 thru #10 to get ahead of Miami. JMO

What about the warm logic that Bills fans on a message board want the Bills to do whatever it takes? Does he Gettleman that? You need to get a franchise QB or the entire world crumbles. Unless you're the Giants and we're running trade scenarios. In that case just trade one away and move out of the top 10 altogether. If you don't, a bunch of people will scream and cry like they are 3 years old and you stole their lollipop. They believed they were getting the lollipop and they were really really wishing for it.
John from Riverside Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Guess what....if it happens we will be fine because we can take Lamar Jackson at 12 and still get our future qb 1 1

Cleveland Browns - QB Josh Allen 2.) New York Giants - QB Sam Darnold 3.) New York Jets - QB Josh Rosen 4.) Cleveland Browns - RB Saquon Barkley 5.) Denver Broncos - QB Baker Mayfield This is a likely scenario that terrifies me. I don't want to know what this board's going to look like if it goes down this way. I'm thankful Kiper put it out there, though. Pretty much guarantees it'll go differently. This seems pretty likely in my opinion. If that occurs it's either Jackson at 12 or Ruldoph, hopefully after 22, in a trade down to get another pick or two. I hate picking Rudolph in round 1. I'd be more comfortable taking him in round 2, trade 22 for 33 and something else.

LABILLBACKER Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 I see this as the most realistic scenario. With Eli diminishing, there's no way the Giants pass on Darnold if Cleveland is dumb enough to pick Allen. The G men may not have this opportunity again for a long time? Rosen falls to the Jets and Elway runs to the podium for Baker. Our only chance is give up it all for 2 or 4.

Your Brown Eye Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Kiper is a QB whore. He'd make the first round all QB's if it was socially acceptable.
