Le’Veon Bell - worth $17 mill/yr?

Okay, I’ll bite, what about Bell as our big ticket FA signing next offseason?

If we have a rookie QB in place who looks like "the guy", Dawkins continues and shows he's a "franchise" LT and Zay and/or a rookie WR steps forward I would drop $17 mil on Bell next offseason without thinking twice.  We'd have our "expensive" positions locked down with cheap young talent, adding arguably (or not arguably) the best back in football is a luxury we could easily afford.

This holds especially true when you factor in his receiving skills. Shady is our best pass catcher now, imo and Bell is even better at that. He could be a 1,300 yard back with 70 catches to go along with it. Outside of Shady our skill players are bad. Bell could cover a lot of that taking over for McCoy.

Yes. The only reason I would knock some off is due to games missed each season.

He’s the most dynamic offensive player in the NFL and genuinely does both the job of receiver and back.

The fact that he also plays with Antonio is amazing.

Except he doesn't.

Saying he gets 550-675 receiving yards a year, which equates him to a #2 receiver on most teams, only works if you assume running backs don't receive the ball at all, which most do, to some extent.

So he's not producing as much above other RBs as he is asking for.

Sport Trac actually did a good analysis on it, if I can find the article I'll post it, but he was only producing something like  10-15% overall more yards than the other top backs on the league.

They used the highest paid pack, Freeman, at like 8.25-8.5 mil per season, and said that bell is asking for almost double that, while producing 10-15% more stats.

Said that using that as a reference point,  10-12mil is fair, and that 15-17 is too high.

I think that it makes sense, but it's hard to quantify.

How much of his production is due to teams doing brown?

How much of Brown's is due to them stacking for Bell?

I would say that I agree with them that 10-12 a year is fair for him, and anybody who pays more than that is going to regret it.

I would keep Brown/Bell/Roethlisberger together as long as they are competitive, with the tag as a preferred method.

Bell is threatening to retire if they franchise him again.

Brown and Ben are already locked up.

Bell is due 14.5 on the franchise this year even if they do.

What?

There is no way Barkley is available unless we trade up.

Phili gives us foles and 2nd if we are lucky for McCoy.

Or some fancy swap of foles, their 1st for McCoy and a 2nd. Use their first and our first plus ? To move to top 8 for Barkley

Philly has stated numerous times that they want:

BETTER than a 1st and a 4th for Foles, and if not, they will keep him.

This isn't made up.

That means they would have to value McCoy as a better than a 1st and 3rd PLUS give back another 2nd with Foles.

What the hell drugs are you on, and where can I get some??

Or your second scenario is giving

McCoy + 2nd for

Philly 1st and Foles?

What??

Then you think Barkley will even be there at 8?

Just stop posting these trades you come up with, it's obvious you have no idea what the hell you are talking about and no concept of reality with these suggestions.

There is no RB worth 17M. You can replace that production with 2 decent RBs for way less. It's the one position where redundancy makes more sense than a superstar.

...but, then you're using a roster spot that can be devoted to the coveted kick off specialist.

Whilst that may or may not be true Phili wants McCoy and needs him for any chance to repeat.

They don't need foles.

Come draft day they could bite on that idea.  And I've never got the feeling that McCoy was going to play here long.

And the way the draft is looking he could; 4 QBs will go top 5, a lot could happen.

Your speculation is more likely accurate than mine but so what, ideas are fun.

I'm a fan of McCoy and dont want to see hin traded, but no way philly doesnt laugh at that trade proposal

Philly would be looking for McCoy and one of the Bills firsts for probably just Foles (maybe they throw in a later pick too)

McCoy is an older RB, Foles is a QB and SB MVP now.  Why would they be giving up more to get the older RB when, as the narrative around here goes, RBs ate a dime a dozen and can be found anywhere?

I don't think any players are worth 17 million a year unless they play QB. If I was the Steelers I would trade him. He could be replaced by a running back in the first round this year and their offense wouldn't skip a beat.

They have been very interested in Guice

Not saying I agree with your plan BUT... If that is the way u want to go shouldn't the Bills try to trade Shady now, while we can still get something for him? Maybe as part of a deal to move up to #2?
