I remember Butler, Nix and Adams really thinking they had a diamond in the rough in Hobert.

It was not to be, as  Biily Joe was last seen jumping off the Tallahatchie Bridge....

LOL hilarious thread.  If this were legit and not a parody of my Mario Williams thread, there would be people that would legitimately defend this move.

”It would have been a good trade, if the coaching staff made him read his playbook.  It was Wade Phillip’s fault.”  LOL

Why even bring this up now?

Because he’s trying to mock the thread I started about Mario Williams being a questionable signing.

I’ll give you props because it was a funny thread.  I do believe that if you were serious some fans here would defend BJH

Yo  i dont think i was even alive for this. Whats this billy joe hobart scandal about

Long story short - Jim Kelly retired leaving the with only Todd Collins and Alex Van Pelt on the roster.  Collins was going into his 2nd year and the team didn’t know how he’d be as starter.  Van Pelt was a solid 3rd string QB - not seen to compete for the starting spot.

So thr Bills traded for Billy Joe who showed flashes with the Raiders in limited work.  He was the insurance in the event that Collins sucked - which he did.

When Billy Joe got his chance he was really bad and admitted he never bothered reading the playbook.  So they cut him a few days later.

Actually even before Kelly retired, every time he threw a pick or the offense came off the field without scoring; half the stadium who shout "Collins, Collins, Collins!" much like when Brady fades out, fans will start calling for their back up. It was the end of our dynasty, we used to expect excellence and to win all the time. Not just hope to get into the playoffs, the AFC went through Orchard Park...This was a dark season

Marv was still the Coach at the time, his last season as HC - which was a bad choice without JK or a viable QB, this team was on it's last legs & Marv should have retired with Jimbo. We gave up a 3rd rounder for Billy Joe, when Collins got hurt and he had to play, I can't even describe how bad the game was. Here is the boxscore, you can see for yourself:
