Reed83HOF Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 It was a franchise altering move. Now is you chance to to comment if you think it was the right move by our team or not... 1 4
/dev/null Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Didn't sign BJH, traded for him And it was the wrong move 1 1
BuffaloBillyG Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 It was absolutely the right move. If for nothing else the "Billy Joe Hobert jokes" have been worth the price paid. 1
Formerly Allan in MD Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 It's a Bills thing: worked out as well as drafting EJ and Losman. There's more if anyone has the stomach for it.
The Crowing Rooster Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 It was so long ago so why does it matter? 1
Bag of Milk Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 I remember Butler, Nix and Adams really thinking they had a diamond in the rough in Hobert. It was not to be, as Biily Joe was last seen jumping off the Tallahatchie Bridge....
BuffaloRush Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 LOL hilarious thread. If this were legit and not a parody of my Mario Williams thread, there would be people that would legitimately defend this move. ”It would have been a good trade, if the coaching staff made him read his playbook. It was Wade Phillip’s fault.” LOL 2 minutes ago, Mike in Horseheads said: Why even bring this up now? Because he’s trying to mock the thread I started about Mario Williams being a questionable signing. Theres a lot divas in here 1 1

slaphappy Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 He was my favorite Bills QB until what's his face slipped on the mat. 1

FearLess Price Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Yo i dont think i was even alive for this. Whats this billy joe hobart scandal about
BuffaloRush Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) 9 minutes ago, FearLess Price said: Yo i dont think i was even alive for this. Whats this billy joe hobart scandal about Long story short - Jim Kelly retired leaving the with only Todd Collins and Alex Van Pelt on the roster. Collins was going into his 2nd year and the team didn’t know how he’d be as starter. Van Pelt was a solid 3rd string QB - not seen to compete for the starting spot. So thr Bills traded for Billy Joe who showed flashes with the Raiders in limited work. He was the insurance in the event that Collins sucked - which he did. When Billy Joe got his chance he was really bad and admitted he never bothered reading the playbook. So they cut him a few days later. https://mobile.nytimes.com/1997/10/16/sports/plus-in-the-news-pro-football-hobert-is-waived.html?referer=https://www.google.com/ Edited March 25, 2018 by BuffaloRush 1
Boatdrinks Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Ahhhh Billy Joe Gunrack...... the memories are sweet
NoSaint Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 I think buffalo rushed into that decision. Impulse control always seems to be an issue.

It was the end of our dynasty, we used to expect excellence and to win all the time. Not just hope to get into the playoffs, the AFC went through Orchard Park...This was a dark season Marv was still the Coach at the time, his last season as HC - which was a bad choice without JK or a viable QB, this team was on it's last legs & Marv should have retired with Jimbo. We gave up a 3rd rounder for Billy Joe, when Collins got hurt and he had to play, I can't even describe how bad the game was.
