frostbitmic Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 If I'm the Giants I'm going to hold a gun to the head of any team wanting pick #2 because I'd be happy picking Barkley or Rosen there. If the Bills came knocking, I'd tell them I want both #1's, first #2, first #3 this year and next years 1st. If they take it, great, if not, no big deal. 1
Mrbojanglezs Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Everyone who says so quickly that Giants should pick a QB put your self in a GMs shoes, there is constant pressure to produce a winning team now, these big market teams like the Giants don't always have the flexibility of waiting for the future to win. They may very well want an impact player to help them win now so the GM earns more years on his contract and not put a rookie on the bench for 2 years.
BuckeyeBill Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Hello Mr. Beane, I know we've talked a thousand times about this. You want our #2 pick, but you don't want to part with any of your 2019 picks. Well this is your last chance, my friend. We've only got five minutes left on our clock, so final deal. Both of your firsts, both of your seconds, and your first next year or no deal.

If all goes as planned, they wont have this sweet a shot at Eli's replacement again. And getting the kid a couple years behind Eli would be very valuable. OR I'm trading with the Bills, taking all our picks, and taking Rudolph at #12 or #22 (depending how draft goes). They can get OL and RBs later in the draft, and with all our picks. The Giants and Bills can do anything but don't trust any "information" that has been put out for public consumption such as Eli getting two more years. Even if Gettleman put that out there himself he is not obligated to stick with it. I swear that some people have a mind of a child when it comes to assessing statements put out by media people.

That would be insane for us to do but the Giants should ask. These QBs aren't can't miss. Questions on throwing motion, concussions, height and accuracy are too much to give away three first rounders + to move 10 spots. If we were to make this deal it would certainly be because we traded Tyrod and are stuck with McCarron.

Oh, I dont believe anything that comes out of the mouths of Coaches or GMs. Or rather, I recognize the way they speak with their "for now"s and "current plan"s.
CuddyDark Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 If there are 7 franchise type players and you trade to 12 what are you doing really?
Sherman Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 If the Giants are smart they draft the QB they believe is a franchise QB. He can sit behind Eli for 1-2 years and then take over. They can continue to compete and won’t be in the same situation we are in in 1-2 years. 2

Really won't know until 10 years goes by to analyze the actual careers of these 7. 12 might have gotten Beane to a point where he thinks he can get somebody that he thinks is vital to the Bills franchise. 1
BillsFan130 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) If I am Gettleman I would be taking a QB. Eli is what, 36 or something? Not many times you have a chance to draft a QB at 2, so if I were them I would for sure do that. (Would suck for the Bills of course) Edited March 22, 2018 by billsfan11 1

He loved him coming outta college I believe, so he might ride with him and see what happens.

We most likely will take a QB at some point this year even if it is not at the top of the draft. If nothing we do QB-wise works out this year there is always next year with us having nearly 100M and picks we could offer to a team needing to unload a QB due to cap problems. If we can offer up salary to other positions next year then we can surely do the same for a QB who would be less of an unknown unlike a draft pick. 1

I don't disagree. But you not getting the same player at 12 unless they take Jackson and he becomes Cam or Vick or Steve Young.
K-9 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 If I’m the Giants, I draft my successor to Manning and not worry about the most important position in sports for the next 10 years after he retires.

If I’m the Giants I’d call Darnold or Rosen’s name and mic drop. It’s a no brainer to me. Hopefully Gettleman is a stooge and tries to win another SB with Eli,

RyanC883 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 This makes sense for the Giants. There are other good RB's, and getting someone like L. Jackson or M. White or Falk in the 2nd would be great for the Giants. Can learn from Eli for 2 years. Then the Giants can beef-up the O and D lines and add a RB (one of the Georgia guys>?). I can't see them drafting a QB at 2. It's like saying to Manning, "thanks for resigning, but we have given up on winning while your here. Teach this guy."

Eli has what? 2-3 years on his contract? They might ride him out and see. I highly doubt they will move on from Eli after this year, which means that Rosen isn't smart for them. Even darnold isn't gonna sit TWO years. The only QB who makes sense for them to sit for 2+ is Allen, and even then, I dont think they go QB @2. I just don't see it.
