It might just be me but beane seems to love to throw smoke screens out there and tall people into stuff that he wants them to believe.   He's done this a number of times...from saying sammy is a huge part of the offense to saying Dareus is doing all the right things.   He plays with everyone to maximize value he can get in return.

To me this draft is no different.  He had a plan all along and he's executing on it.  Gut tells me his favorite QB is QB3 to QB5...and it has been all along.  He traded up to get McDermott his LB and he's going to wait to get Jackson Rudolph or something else.  He likely realized the cost was too high to trade up.  It forced the jets to make a bonehead move and it will force others to jump ahead where he cam take advantage of his 12th pick being bpa.

Just a hunch but he seems very methodical and doesn't do anything by chance.

I see it a little differant.  Similar premise. The move to 12 was to put them in position to get their second choice at qb.  Depending on the price the ability to get their number 1 choice.  Imo Buffalo has is Rosen 1 Jackson 2.  Beane is going to take the next month determining is Rosen 3 firsts and 2 thirds better than Jackson.  After watching the past year Im going to go with the conclusion Rosen is not.  Buffalo gets Jackson and then makes a move to Mcd his linebaker.

Beane has done a phenomenal job so far. I'm reserved to see what's next.  He can't control what the Jets do nor the Colts.  None of us have knowledge of how the trade went down.  I'm reserved to think the Colts didn't want to move that far back.

Its a long way to the Draft...

Agree.  Could be the opposite but same concept.  I'm thinking Jackson is their number 2 no matter what.  That's why you sign the guy with upside to a 2 year deal.

Beane is still the man.  The Jets may have traded up to get ahead of Buffalo, but doing it 40 days before the draft was stupid.  Maybe they just did it to guarantee a shot at 1 of the 3, but 40 days before the draft?

Anyone who doesn't think Beane has a plan, is ignorant.  Look at the picks he has to work with.  Either he drafts a ton of top players, or uses them to target a QB he wants, possibly at 2.

Round 1: 12 (from Cincinnati)

Round 1: 22 (from Kansas City)

Round 2: 53

Rohbd 2: 56 (from Los Angeles Rams)

Round 3: 65 (from Cleveland)

Round 3: 96 (from Philadelphia)

Round 4: 121

Round 5: 166

Round 6: 187 (from Cincinnati)

....should be careful with that "voice of reason" stuff 'round these parts unless you're wearing kevlar......we haven't had a treasure chest of draft capital and a skilled craftsman calling the shots since the Polian era (just put my kevlar vest on too).....

Agreed.  People are letting past regimes ruin the excitement of this draft.  This isn't Doug Whaley running the draft.  I'm truly excited to see what Beane will do.  Whatever he does will be the best for the Buffalo Bills.  People will someday realize how awesome it is to have a GM and front office that works with a purpose and a plan.  What the Jets did, trading to #3, 40 days before the draft, shows incompetence and recklessness.  It is either that, or ownership interfered and forced them to make that trade now.

Don't sell yourself short, dude. Tall is a state of mind. Carry yourself like Beane. He'd tell you that you're tall...but would it just be an elaborate smokescreen to throw you off of the fact that you really ARE short in order to lull another board into taking you ahead of TBD?? Brilliant!

...HOME RUN assessment right there bud....yet the Chicken Littles are whining about how the Jesters effed us and how McBeane should be fired...BTW, I did like the Whaley continually shopped 24/7 looking for ways to improve the roster....problem is we'll never know how much input he actually had or was doing what he was "told to do"....haters will always hate....pretty evident IMO that McBeane is at the helm with significant input from McD and McDaboll....this team effort could prove huge dividends...until the next "SHOULD MCBEANE BE FIRED" thread pops up...ignorance is bliss, right??..........

Beane’s playing chess.....the rest of the leagues playing checkers.

Beane’s playing the game.......the rest of the leagues playing scrimmage.

Beane’s organizing the best draft this franchise has seen in 2 decades........the rest of the league couldn’t organize a 2 car parade.

If Beane could package our 6th round pick, our 5th round pick and our 4th round pick for an early 3rd, we would have two 1sts, two 2nds and three 3rds.

If he then traded the 22nd pick for a 1st next year and a 3rd this year, it would give us 1 less in the 1st round and another 3rd this year.

That's 7 picks in the 1st three rounds and a high chance of having all of them contributing and starting THIS year...

That would build a solid team and we would still have two 1st round picks next year.

Just a thought... Im hungry though. I havent had breakfast yet so maybe my mind is just not there yet...

He said Dareus NEEDS to do the right things...as we all know..the writing was on the wall when he was sent home alone before the preseason game last august.
