You are definitely an elite poster my friend... It's amazing how many people don't remember 2004. I saw people saying they wanted the Bills to stay at 12 and draft defense, then get whatever QB is left at 22.

They can not accept leftovers. Or they need to abort this year and kick the can down the road to getting to the top in the next couple years.

Some people do not learn! It's like they they are ok getting punched in the head over and over again.

Something tells me if the Giants were trying to trade out of #2, the Jets would have aimed for that. I have a strong feeling that the Giants are taking a QB.

They'd be fools not to.  Eli is 37.

QBs are going 1-2-3.

IDK. If you asked my right now today if I rather have Ray Lewis or Joe Flacco I'd choose Ray Lewis. Because I don't see these QB as much more than Flacco or Matt Ryan I would not give up an entire draft for them. JMO.

They both led their teams to a Superbowl and one won it. Awful point.

We are about to find out what Beane is made of. This is a big move for the Jets. If he doesn’t trade up, and a worthwhile QB doesn’t fall to 12, this town is going to start holding his feet to the fire.

You can’t just trade away everybody on the roster and not come away with a top QB prospect

Start?  He’s dead meat.  If he doesn’t have the stones to get up to 1 or 2 he should go find employment elsewhere.  The fans will revolt if they tell us they tried but it was too expensive.

I don't think that has ever been the plan. My guess is Beane is shooting for #1 or #2 before draft day.

It better be a HELL of a lot earlier than draft day.

This. Over and over again.

For Pete's sake we don't even know what the other offers were.  The Bills may have tried but the 6th overall and 3 quality seconds ain't chicken feed in terms of beating an offer.  Guys better start raiding the wives' Valium by the looks of the board.

Imo 3 was always fools gold.  NYG now has the leverage.  It will take nothing short than 3 firsts and 65.  I dont think Beane wanted to do that if he didnt have to.  Imo now he has to.  But he also knows he needs to leap frog The jets and Broncos.   The giants will walk away with a kings ransom now and Beane has to make the move if he covets one of those guys.

Because of a guy named Eli.

If the Bills think there's a guy they have to have they'll use the capital they need to use to get him.  Or it may be they think a guy like Rudolph has as much potential as say Rosen.

My bet is still they move up to get Rosen.  But if not then they'll still take a guy they like in round 1 and get a stud MLB at 12.

Eli is old and not that good and this draft class has good qb talent and they happen to have #2nand rebuilding.    It is totally reasonable for the giants to take a qb.

Lets hope not but how can you not see that.  Don’t think for a second the jets did not make the same offer to the giants and they said no.

We traded up to get Losman. Bills panicked when they heard the Packers wanted him. Packers stood pat and drafted Aaron Rodgers the next year. Sometimes, you need to wait even longer.

In 2004, GMs were still pretty awful at evaluating QBs. Mahomes went top 10 and a team traded up to get him last year. These same guys that were running drafts in the early 2000s said that guy was a second or third round pick. TIMES CHANGE, but the Bills don't.

Can’t imagine the Colts GM didn’t call Beane to see if he would beat the Jets offer before they agreed to the trade with the Jets.  Would be GM malpractice not to maximize their return for that pick.

We’re not trading for the Giants pick now.  If Beane wouldn’t pay the price for the 3rd pick there is no way he’s going to get raped to move up to the 2nd pick.  They will likely wait and see how things fall and possibly move up some from 12 if by some chance their guy drops or just wait at 12 and restock the cupboards with all their picks and hope McCarron is a diamond in the rough.

You don’t pay for the 3rd pick now, not knowing if you are going to get your guy. Let’s say Beane does move to 3, then the Jets trade to 2. How dumb does Beane look then?

You do this trade on draft day, when you know for certain the guy you want is there at 3. The Jets have opened themselves to being jumped at 2.

That's crazy. You know drafting other positions has a high fail rate also.

It's not the fail rate I object to, it's the cost. I'd understand if Luck was in the draft or Went.

If they don't trade up for a QB then they are in trouble and the positive vibes from last season will be gone.

I said it in another thread, as teams take QBs, other top players in other positions slide to the Bills. Beane will now be in a position to draft a top player to fill another need.

We just traded to 12 and signed a backup. How is this snoozing?

Can't wait til we get Roquan Smith at 12 and take Mason Rudolph at 22, eh?

I wonder if the Jets tried trading up to 2 but the Giants didn’t want to move out of that spot. Not good for us if the plan was to move up even further.

Cleveland: Likely taking Darnold

Giants: Rosen, Mayfield

Jets: Rosen, Allen, Mayfield

Broncos: Allen, Mayfield or Jackson

Bills: Leftovers

We are doing 2004 all over again. You have to get the top guy.

No Barkley in that scenario?  I think he goes in the top two, but we shall see...

While I’m a little bummed it wasn’t us in a trade up, it’s still all a crap shoot and I’m going to trust our boys to do what they think is the right thing...
