And IMO should have been the MLB last year full time and just learned to call the defense and stayed there for the next 5 years. I said over and over, last year we should have moved Brown to SLB played Milano at MLB and had Humber play WLB. Milano is good and he can run sideline to sideline. I think Milano is just a little too small to play th MIKE at 223. Compton has about 10 pounds on him. The biggest thing to me, if Compton signs, when we get to nickel, Milano and Compton will be on the field, which is a huge upgrade coverage-wise over Humber and Brown. Lorax will continue to be a part time player at SAM imo.

We need an all around LB. We have enough pass rushers now. He is extremely overpaid for his role
hemma Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 My only concern is that he used to be 6' 2" (disturbing trend) but has shrunk to 6' 1". Soon, he may need to peer between players legs in order to spot the ball carrier. Sign him up. 1

I assume they value his leadership and such, but yes it is way too much money.

Almost save 3 million and would be able to structure a contract with Bowman in a way where he could count 3 million this year and more in future. 1 minute ago, Thurman#1 said: Better than who? It's either him or have Tanner Vallejo start... I'll take Compton everday. There is a 3rd option but that requires we not trade up and draft a LB with our extra picks... At this point it doesn't look likely. I'm thinking we trade our 2 Firsts, Clevelands 3rd, and a mid round pick next year for year and trade to #3 overall. We sign Compton and a Nickle CB. Then Drafting goes like this Round 1. QB Round 2. WR Round 2. OT Round 3. OG/C Round 4. OLB Round 5. CB Round 6. TE Looking at the way free agency is going I think we will be drafting offensive heavy. Get our rookie a weapon and some protection. My point being with a trade up it's not likely that we can upgrade EVERY position. We will have to sacrifice a little and settle for a proven player like Compton if we want to move up into the top 5 and make sure our positions get filled. He's a downgrade from Preston Brown. If he comes cheap he's a good depth signing. But we need to draft a middle linebacker.

Unless, of course, they are not dialed in on one or two of the top qbs specifically. Qb trumps lb, so I would settle for second tier lb before I settle for second tier qb.

I feel like you could do both. Don't go to top 6 (take a QB at 12 or a little sooner if you feel someone is trying to move up) you will be able to get one of the top 4 QBs. You keep your second first round pick and draft one of the top 3 ILB. Second round you draft the WR from LSU and a o line guy. 3rd round you probably have one pick because you needed either to move up, and you take a CB.

This makes no sense given the void the Bills have long had at QB. LB is just not that much of an impact position to take this approach. 1

Wiki says that their figures are from the 2012 combine but the combine site doesn't list Will Compton in 2012 or 2013. NFLDraftScout also doesn't list a 3-cone drill for Compton. I have serious questions. Especially as I went through this thread and found this: 13 hours ago, noacls said: 3 cone drill Brown 6.98 seconds Compton 6.86 seconds He doesn't list a link either. I'd have to have some more linkage, from whoever, on this before believing anything. EDIT: Just checked the official NFL Combine site. They list three Comptons in their history, Tom, Mike and Gary. http://nflcombineresults.com/psearch.php?nm=Compton Anyone can put anything on wiki. I use it sometimes but if there's a question I certainly don't trust them unreservedly. Edited March 17, 2018 by Thurman#1

Thanks. I don't really know Compton at all. Don't have any educated opinion beyond being convinced that Beane has been doing a terrific job so far. GAAAH!! OK, taking another look at NFLDraftScout, they do have a 3-cone for Compton, from his Pro Day rather than the combine. 6.86. Whereas Preston Brown's 3-cone is listed as 6.98 at the combine and 7.13 at his Pro Day. Not that this is some huge deal, but earlier somebody said that Brown's 3-cone was better. That doesn't appear to be true. 1

Then you've got D Leonard, M Jefferson, and J Baker that are day 2 prospects who could potentially start as rookies. Then there's the day 3 sub package guys, like Jewell, who is very likely a guy that could carve out a role and play for a long time. There's more than a handful of those And you're still missing the point You don't need an elite LB group. You need 3-4 guys that can get it done in a platoon fashion 1
