And he also wants to throw some smoke out there to make it appear they might not take a QB off the top. Rigghhht

Yeah, they are taking a QB. It looks Darnold to me.

Tyrod will play it safe like usual which will get the browns 5 wins? which is an improvement from last year

5 wins would probably get him a statue built in front of the stadium

It's all fun and games until they are down by 7 with 5 min to go and they have 2 drives in a row where they can't even get a 1st down.

Haven't watched that station in forever. Is Last Call still on? I used to watch that a lot after Indians games.

No competition???

BAD idea....

Agreed

This is where some coaches fall short.  While I can't blame Hue Jackson for finally being happy to have a competent QB, to make a statement that there IS no competition this early sends the wrong message.

While McDermott, no matter the player, makes it clear that they have to come in and compete for their job.

That's what they call creating a culture.  Jackson is creating a poor one, and why he has taken the  hit for the 1-31 record despite the talent issues the team has had.

Yes..and Beer Money.

Anyone who thinks the Browns will be satisfied with Taylor as their franchise quarterback, and the few wins he will bring them, is caught in their smoke and mirrors syndrome.  He's a bridge and nothing more.

This is where a punt counts as a turnover

Yep, why would you declare this now?  Seems crazy to me.  I’ve got to believe they draft one of the named QB prospects and if so let them compete.  This declaration just seems stupid unless they really believe that Tyrod has more to offer than what was on display in Buffalo.

Hue might believe that he is dead man walking if he doesn't improve dramatically in year one. So maybe he strays from the top three and trades down, then picks up more players that can help him this year. Dumb for the team in the long run but self-preservation.

There was absolutely no way they were going to start a rookie after how they handled Kizer.

Of course not.  Personally not a fan of the "open competition" stuff unless you got a bunch of

untested players.  They got TT to be the starter and he should be treated like one.

Let the rookie work his way up to compete for the starter roll.

IMO

I don't get it at all... Hue Jackson has been very, very, disappointing these last couple years.

The best part is Hue handles press conferences with an arrogance matched by neither man nor beast ever.

I’m surprised that people are surprised by this!! They are 1-31 over the last 2 years.  Hue and company need to win some games.

Yep.

They need structure at the QB position.

Hue knows he has to put up some W's or he is gone. Tyrod gives him the best chance to do that over a Rookie. He is a solid game manager who doesn't turn the ball over.
