Sticker shock is there, but if you look deeper there are a lot of low cost outs for the Bills. If he plays up to the contract he will make some big bucks. If he doesn't he will be gone in 2 seasons with little penalty to the Bills.

I like it.

The Bills clearly structured Star Lotulelei's deal to take advantage of their more advantageous salary-cap situation in 2019. His salary-cap number is a manageable $6.7 million in 2018 before ballooning to $11.5 million in 2019. He then counts $10.1 million in 2020, $10.85 million in 2021 and $10.85 million in 2022.

It's a couple million more per year than I would have paid but I'm not gonna complain about $2 million. He's still cheaper than Dareus and will be worth a lot more to the team.

Beats the hell out of some of these 100 million dollar contracts these other DTs are getting. I think he is going to be a good player for us. Hopefully the incentive laden deal lights a fire under his ass and to be honest, the salary cap is going to continue to rise, he won't really be getting paid that much in comparison to some of the upper echelon elite guys in a few years. It's a fair contract, if he doesn't quite live up to it, we can always restructure the deal slightly.
