No to Brees, he is a rental at his age.

If we could get him for a year or two, AND draft a QB, you'd say no?  Then you're a !@#$ing moron.

He certainly wants to and 99.999999% will stay in New Orleans. There are few destinations where the team he goes to wouldn’t instantly be a contender though. If he signed here — between free agency and 6 early draft picks add 2 WRs a couple front 7 defenders and a little depth and we are instantly a super bowl favorite.

Depending on what it takes to get him, if McBeane also can move up to get Mayfield, this would be heavenly. Brees would make us contenders for 2-3 years PManning style. He also gets a chance to thump his chest and be the other QB to win superbowls with two teams. He gets to go head to head with Brady and show him who is the boss. And for added measure, he gets to mentor another 'short' QB in the ways of climbing the pocket and passing taller than he physically is.

Whats not to like ? Except for the fact that Payton would be daft to let him go.

I'd take him if we draft a QB.  How long would we sign him? 1-2 years MAX?  Let the rookie learn from a great vet.  I just don't know how much we'd have to spend on him.

Sean Payton trying to get Brees to hurry up and sign. "Sign it or I'll tell Bills and Jets you are available..."

exactly.  he'll sign today if that is the alternative

Why wouldn’t Drew Brees want to leave an offensive minded coach, in a city he loves, in an indoor stadium, for the Bills or Jets?

I agree Brees is staying in NO but it's also interesting when a player becomes a FA...Brees has plenty of leverage now....he'll have more on Wednesday

Not saying this guy has any sources...

And I do fully expect Drew Brees to re-sign with New Orleans...

But doesn't anyone find it the slightest bit strange that a contract has no been agreed upon yet?  The Free Agency negotiating period starts today.  Free Agency officially starts Wednesday.  Wouldn't it be in the Saints best interest to get him signed and sealed well before that date, so they know what the cap situation will look like?

It only makes sense that something is holding up the deal.

Either Brees is unhappy with what the Saints are currently offering him, or he wants to test the market.

Even when dealing with the Saints, Brees' salary demands have been astronomical.  He'd take 100% of a team's cap if someone would give it to him.  I can only imagine what he'd do in a negotiation with the Jets or Bills.
