DC Tom Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Goodell is fining Jones for Jones' challenging of Goodell's contract? No conflict of interest there, nosiree... 5
vincec Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 This is awesome. There's more entertainment from the NFL off the field these days than on it. 2
RussellDopeland Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 On principle, the league can fine Jerry Jones for, well, just being Jerry Jones.

Reed83HOF Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Ed WerderVerified account @EdwerderRFA 6m6 minutes ago More I believe the #NFL is not technically fining #Cowboys owner Jerry Jones but seeking repayment for approximately $2M in legal expenses relative to his threats to sue the league. NFL Finance Committee and other owners supported repayment allowed by bylaws in place over 2 decades.
frostbitmic Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 That's just a contract fee for a Super Bowl appearance vs the patriots next February.
JohnC Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 If Jones gets fined it is wrong. What would he be fined for? For having a different opinion from the rest of the herd and pushing for his case? His claims could be legitimate or well off target. It doesn't matter. He is entitled to his view and is entitled to pursue it. Jones is an egotistical and bombastic person. He threatened to sue because he was on the losing side of the argument. Ultimately, he didn't sue. So how did he harm the league or any other owners, and the insufferable commissioner. Jones position that Goodell was going to be overpaid was not an unreasonable position. Goodell is the commissioner of the NFL. He's not Putin who disposes of people who challenge his authority. On this issue I'm on the side of the tiresome talker from Dallas. 1
