I was one of the most vocal to keeping Fitzpatrick I really like Wilson because he was a five-year starter. I had a few quarterbacks that I wanted that year but we would have been better off keeping Fitzgerald and drafting about any quarterback

I would not have taken him in the second round, but I thought he was good for the third...worried he would be gone in the fourth. I won't deny hindsight, but I also won't deny that even back then I am unfamiliar with any planet other than this one that would draft Graham over Wilson. Losman over Rothelisburger (with the opportunity) For those matters, Whitner over Ngata...I was visiting my friend in CT (a board member here) during that draft and we were just stunned when Ngata wasn't the pick. I don't think we spoke for about 30 seconds. Edited February 22, 2018 by dollars 2 donuts

Cripple Creek Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 It was a turble idea to roast Freddy, just turble.

It is such a wonder that Frik and Frak have not found jobs in some front offices with such insight.

Whaley reached the pinnacle of his profession. There is zero need for him to take a scouting job or pro personnel job i doubt he'll work in the NFL again but he did interview for a GM position since he was fired

I don't think we spoke for about 30 seconds. I was STUNNED too when Whitner was the pick. I remember exactly where I was packing up my Aunts house after she passed away. Had the draft on and literally walked over to in front of the TV to watch what I thought was a LOCK of Ngata and my mouth dropped when they took Whitner. Admittedly after my shock and disgust on passing on Ngata, I knew we also needed a Safety so talked myself into thinking it was gonna be a good pick. I personally didn't hold Whitners draft slot against him once he became a Bill like many here did, and thought he was still a pretty solid pick in terms of his career. But it still never made up for not taking Ngata who was both the best choice at the time and had the much better career. Just a dumb move...its not like Whitner was a bust, but still Ngata was by far the right pick and everyone knew it but the Bills. And yeah, same with Wilson, thought for sure he was the pick when the trade came in. Couldn't believe my eyes and ears when they announced the real pick. Was so pissed off that it wasn't Wilson who I was actually willing to take in the 2nd round that year just to insure we got him as I wanted him. Felt he was a late 2nd to early 3rd guy, so was willing to take him sooner since he was a QB with a lot of upside. Edited February 22, 2018 by Alphadawg7 1
