Maybe we're somewhere in between, but these metrics they use make more sense to me. There's no way our line was 2nd in the league. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol I think this is more in line with reality. In general I like CHFF and FO >>> PFF
MTBill Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I read that article and didn't buy it either. Based on the other article, their metric could be valid - but just not the direction they think it is. e.g. we were not the second 'best' - we were the second 'worst'.
peterpan Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Please keep in mind that other teams pass rush was slowed down due to Taylor's legs. Keeping their lanes and keeping TT contained is the priority over just rushing the QB. There is a word for it in football lingo but it's slipping my mind right now. Either way re watch Peterman v the Chargers if you don't believe me.

Garbage. Kidding. I didn't get the feeling Tyrod had all day all the time but when he did drop back all you could scream at the TV is "throw the godamm ball!!" Edited February 21, 2018 by BeefCurtns
Kelly the Dog Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 So they don't count it as a pressure when the OL completely gets burnt and his DL is right on top of the QB almost immediately, which happened all the time. Good work, next gen.

There are two QB who hold it longer. Russ Wilson and DeShaun Watson. But we know they hold the ball a long time because they're escaping pressure and trying to extend the play, so it's generally seen as a good thing. Oh wait.... Lack of anticipation like many on here have said. Throwing the ball to an area for his wr to get to was the issue. He was throwing to the receiver and if the receiver is somewhat covered, he wouldn't throw
Luka Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 As they say, the truth is in the middle somewhere. I think talent wise, the line is better than they played. I think that also had a lot to do with that awful zone blocking scheme. They were still more than effective on power runs. I won't get into pass blocking because you can't judge that with a guy that holds the ball and scrambles.

The o-line was never good at pass blocking to begin with and took a step back transitioning to a new run blocking scheme.
theAteam Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 These guys are high. Throw whatever stats you have out the window and watch the games. Watch our right side get blown up over and over again. Tyrod's escapability is the only thing stopping them from being one of the worst OLs in the league.
buffalobloodfloridahome Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I thought at times the line was doing their job quite well. It did take a few weeks to get the new blocking scheme down. Just saw a QB that was afraid to pull the trigger and he kept taking negative plays by getting sacked. I hate ragging on Tyrod but you have to see those open receivers down the field and make that throw as they are coming open. 1
