somnus00 Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 I'm having trouble seeing what so many like about Mayfield. Not trying to be a jerk here. He was fun to watch. He made things happen...at the college level. But, to me, he made a lot of throws that would've been picked off in the NFL. The improvisational style can work great in college. It doesn't work as consistently in the pros.

When he moves in the pocket or backfield he keeps his eyes downfield and delivers the ball without a hit to his accuracy. 2

Chicken Boo Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 (edited) Please tell me what anyone has seen from Beane/McDermott thus far that makes them believe they will draft a 6' QB with maturity issues? Let alone, moving up to grab him. Ain't happening! Edited February 9, 2018 by Chicken Boo

Drafting before us, the Browns, Giants, Broncos, Jets, and Cardinals are likely drafting qbs. That's 5 teams right there. There's also the questionable teams, like the Colts if they move on from Luck, and I wouldn't be entirely shocked to see the Dolphins grab one, or the Redskins to have someone to groom behind Smith. One team will get Cousins, and if the Colts decide to move Luck someone would grab him. Thats potentially 6-7 teams. Obviously I don't think there will be 7 qbs taken in the first round, but the lowest I've seen Mayfield ranked is 4th, behind Darnald Rosen and Allen. If even half of qb needy teams take one, Mayfield will absolutely be gone before 21.
Jay_Fixit Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 If this was top 3 spots, sure, I’d consider it something. But this guy is talking about 1/3 of the league. Top 10 spots.. Hell even SaviorPeterman could do that. 1

Manziel was always flashing his money sign bragging about his success and violating NCAA rules for monetary gain. When Mayfield brags it’s that his team will beat or just beat your team. One is focused on individual success the other is focused on the team. One is the kind of guy who would celebrate throwing for 300 and 3 TDS even if his team lost, the other is only celebrating a win. One got drunk and in trouble a single time (pretty common for college kids)and his friends say he is a homebody the other got in trouble with the law lots of times and was always at the club or a casino, and needed to go to rehab for his substance problems. The concerns are are only the slightest bit similar.

No doubt but he does not seem like the type to get suspended or derail his career partying. He’ll need to tone it down in the NFL. I think it comes down to the fact that he’s super compedative and it comes out in immature ways.

I can see him growing out of it, but the sooner the better. No pun intended.
JohnBonhamRocks Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 He should go undrafted because he tweeted to a HS commit for Texas... Actually though, trade up to #3 and guarantee one of Rosen/Darnold/Mayfield.
Domdab99 Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 or, "let me name 10 teams that need a QB so I can get more clicks."

Zebrastripes Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 If Mayfield were a couple inches taller I think there would be a legit debate about him going first overall.
