With Oscar nominations announced, the box office pace has slowed down. In times past, the month of February was just another month of dumping grounds for bad movies. Yet, quite recently that trend has been changing, as a few notable blockbusters have been gotten people to visit the multiplexes in droves this time of year, as a precursor to the upcoming spring season. This month has a few films that have potential to be modest to good hits. Although, there is one movie that is drawing considerable interest, as it continues a certain comic book universe.

Disney & Marvel present, "Black Panther". T'Challa, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. Also starring, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Sterling K. Brown, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker & Andy Serkis.

Clint Eastwood directs, "The 15:17 To Paris". Three Americans discover a terrorist plot aboard a train while in France. Starring Anthony Sadler, Alex Skarlatos, Spencer Stone, Jenna Fischer, Judy Greer, Thomas Lennon & Jaleel White.

Natalie Portman stars in, "Annihilation". A biologist signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don't apply. Also starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tessa Thompson & Oscar Issac.

Jason Bateman & Rachel McAdams star in, "Game Night". A group of friends who meet regularly for game nights find themselves trying to solve a murder mystery. Also starring Jesse Plemons, Chelsea Peretti, Billy Magnussen & Kyle Chandler.

20th Century Fox presents, "Peter Rabbitt". Feature adaptation of Beatrix Potter's classic tale of a rebellious rabbit trying to sneak into a farmer's vegetable garden. Starring James Corded, Fayssal Bazzi, Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie, Daisy Ridley,  Rose Byrne & Sam Neill.

From Aardman Animations comes, "Early Man". Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of Dug, along with sidekick Hognob as they unite his tribe against a mighty enemy Lord Nooth and his Bronze Age City to save their home. Starring the voices of Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, Eddie Redmayne & Timothy Spall.

Helen Mirren stars in, "Winchester". Eccentric firearm heiress believes she is haunted by the souls of people killed by the Winchester repeating rifle. Also starring Jason Clarke.

In "Fifty Shades Freed",  Anastasia and Christian get married, but Jack Hyde continues to threaten their relationship. Starring Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eric Johnson & Eloise Mumford.

Finally, in "Every Day", A shy teenager falls for someone who transforms into another person every day. Starring Angourie Rice, Owen Teague & Maria Bello.

A new Deadpool trailer is out today.  I'm sure that will be paired with Black Panther (after cleaning up the language).

This Deadpool movie was originally supposed to be out in June.

Now they've placed it in May in between, "Infinity War" & "Solo". :o

The month of May is going to be a monster for the box office.

Hereditary is supposed to be scariest film in decades and was the talk of Sundance.  Movie critics said it surpassed the hype.  They say there are more people screaming in theater then on screen

Hereditary last I saw was 10 of 10 on rotten tomatos.  Same with Black Panther

Is "Hereditary" being released this month?

The filmmakers and studio behind the new children’s movie

Peter Rabbit have issued an apology after drawing ire over a scene pertaining to a food allergy.

In the film, Peter Rabbit’s (voiced by James Corden) nemesis, Mr. McGregor, is allergic to blackberries. In an attempt to enter McGregor’s garden, Peter and friends shoot a blackberry into McGregor’s mouth, causing anaphylaxis. Parents who saw the movie were upset with the scene, saying the scenario is “bullying” of someone with a food allergy and calling for a boycott of the film.

15-17 to Paris was sleeper

This was one of the few movies I almost walked out of ever.  Unbelievably bad---and from Clint Eastwood!

Mind numbingly boring---it's the actual 3 guys playing themselves....badly!  You have to suffer through what has to be the least fun Bro trip through Europe....ever.

The actual attack and subduing of the terrorist accounts for about 3 minutes of the movie.  The rest is completely boring backstory of the very boring lives of these three dudes.  Their trip through Europe seems never ending and is incredibly badly retold by Eastwood.  It's all selfie stick pictures and "hey, should we go get a beer?"  "Let's go to Venice....or something".

It's brutal.

Agree. Just not much happening in three quarters of the movie.

It was so awkward.  These poor guys should never have been asked to dramatize this event--horrible actors.  I was dying for them to just get on that F-ing train.

The movie seemed like it was 3 hours long but when i looked at my watch, it was like 1:20 tops.

The NYT review was beyond bizarre.  Like a parody of a review.

Wait, they got the actual guys to play themselves for that movie?  How on earth could any respectable film maker, let alone someone the status of Eastwood, think that was a good idea?  I'm a bit fed up with the recent trend of turning these events into movies so quickly, but this one takes it to another level all together.

Yes, it is an odd move by Clint Eastwood to do something like this.

I haven't seen the movie, nor do I intend to. Sometimes even good filmmakers make bad decisions.

Eastwood's 87 but it appears he still has complete creative autonomy over his movies.

That wouldn't surprise me, by looking at the success he's had with his movies.

The only movie I have seen of his that I thought was underwhelming was "J.Edgar". It was decent, but forgettable.

Everybody has their off days, I'm sure Eastwood will be back with something else that will impress audiences.
