Typically the HC will allow the OC to be involved with decisions on the offensive coaching staff. Except when he hires them? 2 hours ago, Hapless Bills Fan said: Often the HC gives the OC pretty much power to put together the staff he wants. It would be pretty reactive (and arrogant) for Daboll to yell "everybody out of the building!" before he's had a chance to meet with the guys who are already on board. Not to mention it's always possible that one or more of the guys he'd like to make a pitch for are still playing, or still officially on another team's staff. Except last year, when he shoved Castillo down Denny's throat?

Good point, no doubt. But the group he had were night and day better talented than what we had previously. And I have to give the credit for that to McD's scheming more than anything else.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Personalities or possibly a demand for a lot more money having produced a top rate secondary.
Green Lightning Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 So how much better does a secondary have to play before you don't get fired?
NewCardsFan Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Coaching is a very tight-knit environment. McDermott knows this guy going back to high school. Daboll was on a staff he played for college. These guys like to hire familiarity, or sign them as we saw with Carolina players. Rex brought in Jets, Jauron kept going to the A-Train. Chan really wanted Tyler Thigpen. And so on and so forth. Until the regime gets lets go and then the next one repeats the same thing.

Manther Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Seriously, suck it Byrd! On 2018-01-30 at 8:27 AM, YoloinOhio said: Never did find work since Rex replaced him .... I wonder what the story was there Weird! On 2018-01-30 at 10:46 AM, Kirby Jackson said: There certainly can be other reasons. The point that I am making is that 3 starters having the best years of their respective careers and a rookie finishing 2nd as DROY isn’t likely to be “despite the coach.” The likely scenario is that he was a big part of it. Ockham’s Razor p.s. Are those O.R. scrubs you’re wearing? Oooo....rrrrr.... they
MJS Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 McDermott can bring in whatever guys he wants. It is his defense and his specialty is the secondary. It's obvious he is not worried about a drop-off in the until by losing Byrd. McDermott is the one responsible for the turn around, along with the scheme and players themselves.
Fadingpain Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Did a video circulate on youtube showing him snorting blow or something? Seems like a dismissal not related purely to job performance.
