Thats terrible news.

Thank EW for the years on the team, good luck to recovery and family.

That was funny skanky.

Heck of a guy. Great leader, good player... It sucks but I'm glad his health is being put first.

And I know it sucks that we have had to find out the way but I'm sorta glad we will be able to see what Ryan Groy can do. I assume he will be the new starting Center next year. He was awesome when Wood was out the entire season. And he fits what Daboll wants to do.

Was so happy when we drafted him, he had a wonderful career here, one of my all-time favorites.

Me too. A rock in the middle, and a great guy/teammate.

Guess it's long overdue I pick up a #70 jersey. Will be the only new jersey other than the KW I bought week 17.

No more buying jerseys for young guys or splaah FA's. I currently have a Lynch, TO, Spiller, Watkins, Dareus, Edwards, and Pozluszny. Plus a freaking Watkins fathead. Yuck.

The were supposed to have the foresight to predict a career ending injury?  Don't be ridiculous.

Let's not sit here and act like Wood has been healthy his whole career. Let's not also sit here and act like this wasn't wear and tear. Let's also not sit here and act like that extension was necessary. The extension was terrible when it happened and now it's laughable at what this organization is doing. Don't worry though, they shipped Dareus, Sammy and Darby out for anything.

He was too busy chastising others for their lack of Bills and Football knowledge in the other thread to look it up.

None of that has anything to do with criticizing them as if they were supposed to be soothsayers to know that he was going to be forced to retire at age 31.

My offseason wasn't ruined until I read this post

Its common frickin sense to not overpay to extend a player who had questionable health his whole career. Beane has done nothing but hurt this organization.

Lets not forget they traded for an injured Benjamin

They got three 2018 draft picks and 2 2017 (at least) starters out of those trades so “anything” — I don’t know what that means but I’m guessing you meant to say “nothing” which would be incorrect.

If you think they should have known he would not play past 2017, blame the doctors, not them. The extension was done so that their new QB would have stability, performance, experience and leadership at the Center position for his first 2 years. If you think he was overpaid, please realize the market. He could have gotten that or more elsewhere as a FA. Some people act like these guys should play for less than they can get.

I have had my share of disagreeing with moves they have made under Beane/McDermott, but your declaration goes too far with them finishing the season at 9-7, making the playoffs, and being armed with plenty of draft capital to make roster improvements.

It’s a meniscus that he’s having surgery on to repair and played through. But I won’t forget because I’m sure you won’t let me.

Those #s don't make sense in light of the contract redo last yr.

BTW, Spotrac already updated Wood's cap hit for 2018, and he accounts for only $5.6 million dead cap, which means $3 million cap saving.  My guess is that a salary paid for an injury guarantee doesn't count agains the cap for a retired player.  So there's good news on thew cap front at least

Questionable health? Before this his only injuries were a broken leg his rookie year and another broken leg last season. Hardly injury prone.

Without KB we lose the Indy game and don’t make the playoffs. A third round pick to end the drought is well worth it.

And didn’t miss a snap this entire season. Not sure if people who make these comments notice how often OL on other teams are injured and miss time.
