NewEra Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 6’2 240. Great build. Aggressive, tough and instinctive. Has a nose for the ball and is capable in zone coverage. Been watching videos and I’d love to snatch him in rd 3-5 (because that’s where I’ve seen him mocked) although I think he could rise to rd 2. Anyone scout him or watch him extensively? I’m wondering if he fits best as a SLB or. MLB In this defense. Is he good enough in coverage to be an asset in pass D or is he a detriment? As ive said before, I’m really excited about the prospects of completely retooling the front 7 this offseason. 2 new LB, 2 new DTs and a new DE. Who are they going to be and how do they fit? any feedback on Kiser would be appreciated. Or maybe another Lb you love that could be our next MLB or SLB
baskingridgebillsfan Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 thinking i heard he maybe a tad slow for the Mcdermott mlb profile.

That’s what I was thinking, maybe SLB? But if he doesn’t play in the nickel then he’s probably not worth a 2nd. Probably 3-5 like projected

Roquon is the best guy in that regards this year and it’ll cost a top 15 pick maybe top 8. Top LBs that cover and stop the run usually don’t hit the market very often and are paid top dollar. May have to settle for less at some positions

NFLDraftScout has him between 4.65 and 4.76, but with a high of 4.87. that 4.87 is very slow. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=127508&draftyear=2018&genpos=ILB But his range is OK but not excellent.

Do not get so caught up with the 40 times for LB's, the short & long shuttle is a better judge of their in the box quickness & change of direction...I also think being a film junkie (to diagnose plays in the game) and instincts are better characteristics for a LB.

Bigger, stronger than Roquan Smith...not quite as fast but he looks dam fast enough to me. Can rush AND cover.

If being a track star is a prerequisite for your LB's that's fine...Most NFL LB's sprint forward something like 10-20 yds (unless they are on ST coverage units), loose hips, stacking, shedding and tackling are better characteristics of a NFL LB, imo. In a zone defensive scheme ala McD defense the LB are asked to drop into passing lanes the majority of the time, where a LB's instincts and game prep are major variables to success. BTW, I am not a proponent of this guy. I just don't value straight line 40 times as a gauge for judging LB success in the NFL.
