gjv001 Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 What is it about Daboll that led McDermott and Beane to hire him as OC?
Buffalo_Stampede Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Simple answer is he is an experienced play caller, well respected, and has a previous good relationship with McDermott.
Mr. WEO Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Wait...."Brian Daboll hired as new OC"???!!! Holy cow...

Plenty of NFL experience as an OC and play caller. Knows the AFC East and particularly NE. Led the offense of the National Champions this year. WNY ties, U of R grad. Patriots will most likely lose both OC and DC and probably would have been interested in bringing back Daboll. Should I go on? Makes absolute perfect sense to hire this guy. 2

Mat68 Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) Want to have the Patriot system on offense. My understanding it has become the most player friendly system. Verbage is the simplest for a Qb and players to learn and operate. Smart guy who is from a fantastic coaching tree. Able to adapt to any style of play with seamless instillation. buffaloboyinATL Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I could see a new thread if you had some kind of new perspective to share, but for a question? To answer: I am sure it was because he and McDermott share some kind of similar philosophy about how the offense should be run and McD and Beane trust him to execute on that shared vision.

Coach Tuesday Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Should be automatic one week probation for starting a thread like this, increasing to multiple weeks for multiple offenses. 1
BuffaloBillyG Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I think the driving force behind the hire is that McD want Daboll to share his hair care secrets with him.
