After today, the Vikings will not let Keenum go. They will keep Teddy as a backup. He gets time to heal up and prove he can be a future guy. Bradford gets a new team.

He's a bit fragile for the Bills to put money into, but I wonder what Daboll thinks about him. I'd take a flyer if the price is right and draft Mayfield.

The other option would be to trade for Smith, but I would not give up anything more than a 3rd and still draft Mayfield provided he falls to 21.

Depends if Shurmur gets a HC gig.  Keenum wants to go with him.

Unless Minny puts a franchise tag on him. Doubt it, but it will get interesting to see how the QB quest shakes out all over the league and how Daboll re-invents the offense.

Keenum won't be let go because that prayer was answered?

I don't think that's how they'll make their decision.

Yes, it will.  No way Keenum is going anywhere. If he doesn't negotiate something reasonable (based on his history), they'll franchise tag him. Imagine if Tyrod had beaten the Jags last week and then thrown a last 15 second TD pass to, umm, Kelvin Benjamin to beat the Steelers this weekend. No way he would've been dumped in the offseason.

He wouldn't have been franchised. You're reacting in the moment, not off sound judgment. If I'm wrong, I'll own it, but keenum is not getting franchised. They've been cool on him all year.

Everything changed this evening. I'm not saying franchise-tagging Keenum is a good football decision, or that re-signing him to a big extension is a good football decision. But this is how teams react to playoff success.  And after a very good season, and a miracle playoff win, I really can't see the Vikings parting with him.

I think they'll be able to work out a reasonable deal.  Keenum has shown them enough.

Maybe you guys are right. I will give you that, a qb who has shown he can get to a conference championship usually gets the extension from his own team.

I guess I feel one way, but can see both sides and I might usually disagree with what I was saying earlier.

Yeah we have to stop going to goodwill stores for QBs. Draft one high. Take a shot if one of the top 3s there

Bradford threw for 3,877 yards with 20 td's and 5 int's for a 99.3 rating in 15 games last year.  I wouldn't call him a goodwill store quarterback.

Mr. Glass isn't worth the flier imo

If you think about the surprise QBs who step in and then take a team to the conference championship or even the Super Bowl, you'll notice that almost every time that QB is brought back the following season:

-Doug Williams/Redskins. Jay Schroeder led them to the playoffs. Williams took over and went 0-2, but they caught fire in the playoffs and won the Super Bowl with Williams. He came back (and didn't last long); they let Schroeder move on

-Jeff Hostetler. Beat some team (I forget which one) to win the SB after taking over for Phil Simms (who accumulated all the victories that got them to the playoffs). Next season: Hostetler began as starting QB even though Simms was clearly the better QB.

-Brad Johnson. Won a SB, stayed on even though everyone knew it was kind of a fluke.

-Tom Brady. There was no "but Drew Bledsoe is the guy who really got us there" talk ...

Trent Dilfer is the only exception that comes to mind, and if I remember correctly that was because Seattle signed him as a free agent.

Finish strong as a QB and the job is yours, until you prove that it was, indeed, a fluke.

If you had asked me even 8 weeks ago which QB from the Vikings was going to be on another team next year, I’d have bet the farm on Keenum. At this point, after this game, there is no way they let him go.

Bradford, while a good QB, is guaranteed to miss 3 games a season minimum due to an injury. Bridgewater was looking good prior to his injury, but nobody knows how good he can play because Keenum has proven to be capable of leading this team, and has not not needed to relinquish his hold on the position.

At this point, they have to know that he has the support of his team- look where they are thanks in part to him. Even if they had doubts before, that whole team has to be on board with Keenum for today and for the next season. He’s earned it.

that being said, I don’t believe we would go after either of the other Minnesota QBs at this point. Keenum is the only one we would likely consider of the three.

Keenum has been a top 5 QB this year. If he were here would you pay to see if he could do it again? I would.

You always run the risk that this was more of a one year wonder (like Foles in 2013 or Anderson in in 2007) so a short term deal or the franchise tag makes sense.

Would hate to see the Vikes get a SB before us. Unless it's against the pats*

Yeah. I found myself pulling for the Saints even though I like the Vikes story. Reason? I thought Drew Brees would have the best chance of the remaining teams/QBs to take out the Pats. Now I have to put all my hope on Blake Bortles or Case Keenum or Nick Foles? That leaves me with "at least they'll have to beat two of the best defenses in football." I'm running out of threads of hope here....
