I will go on record as saying this is a big positive for the coaching staff. He is a younger guy who has shown both innovation and flexibility in his stints in the pros and college. As a previous poster stated, the second half of the National Championship perfectly exhibited that. Roughs stint on the Browns, but who has done anything better there since?

He only has 5 super bowl rings as a coach. Would have preferred a guy with like 6, but oh well.

I’m sure that those five Super Bowl say very little about the type of OC Daboll will be one way or the other. I’m not a fan of this hire. I just don’t see him as someone who is very innovative.

belichek got badmouthed after his browns stint

He seemingly has the right attributes, I like the apparent attention to detail. His previous stints are uninspiring but a long time ago.

To me the biggest reason for hope is it really seems like we had a plan and went and got the guy we wanted.

Excuses the designs of the offenses and the playcalling where blah.

Better options out there but will wait and see but at this point dont like it. There was no rush to hire Brian Daboll

It tells me a couple things:

1. Indy is hiring a defensive coach and keeping chudzinski as OC.

2. McDaniels is going to NYG and McCoy going with him.

I think those guys were probably ahead on the list but weren't coming here.

How the heck can anybody hate this hire?

The guy coached under the 2 greatest coaches of all time in BB and Saban.

Young and innovative.

Incredible some of you that are mad.

A franchise QB solves all problems, but for reference his NFL OC history is atrocious. He finished in the bottom 4 in total offense 3 of 4 years:

2009 Cleveland Browns - 29th ranked offense

2010 Cleveland Browns - 31st ranked offense

2011 Miami Dolphins - 20th ranked offense

2012 Kansas City Chiefs - 32nd ranked offense

Who was his qbs

He has college and NFL experience. I hope he can be innovative and make adjustments. The National Championship game showed him and Saban make some bold moves and play calling. I am cautiously optimistic!!
