GreggTX Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 We have the need for speed, but we need that guy with great speed and hands that can keep opponents from loading up against the run. When Sammy was healthy, the long ball was a big part of our game and that was a big reason why our run game was better, imo. We don't have anyone like that any more. Thompson is ok, but not good enough to make other teams back off, especially with TT throwing. Still, Taylor had a very nice completion rate on those deep balls back then. Thoughts?
ganesh Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Usually those guys are found only in the top-10 of the draft...They are called Blue Chip prospects...May be with the run on the QB some of those blue chippers will drop down to our slots. 1

Tyrod's long ball was great in year one but then withered and died. With or without Sammy, it just disappeared. 1
maryland-bills-fan Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Actually there are a lot of lower round "all-speed- no route smart" players available in the lower rounds. You can pick them up as non-drafted free agents and stretch the field once in a while. Also, look for small college players including QB's.
GunnerBill Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 We do... but not this year. Get our Quarterback, build both lines and then come back for a WR in the 1st in 2019 1
SoCal Deek Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Free agency? I've not seen a list of WR. Of course neither Tyrod nor an unknown rookie are going attract the best of the best.
MrEpsYtown Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I mentioned this in another thread but my target is Donte Moncrief (hopefully coming with Rob Chudzinski). He is fast, big, and a play maker. I believe we have an elite guy in KB and Moncrief is probably the perfect #2. He had a down year, so he should be cheap, but I think he has tremendous potential. He's also an outside reciever so you can play Zay Jones in the slot. 1
