Here's a guy with a less than pedestrian 1st 5 years in the league and litterally explodes 1 year with the Bills.  This was a heluva a talent find. Got give the Beane man lots of credits for this one

Remember when everyone was saying who is playing safety this year and the Bills need someone better?

Well look at him now....Congrats Jordan Poyer.(who happens to be my Bronco loving bosses favorite Bills player)

This is  also why the Browns are 1-31.

They have a talent like Poyer and let him walk.

That would be rather odd since Beane still worked for the Panthers when Poyer was signed by the Bills.

I believe credit goes to our LB coach who worked with Jordan with the browns and told McD to bring him in

Aaron who?

I think this backfield has to be a credit to McDermott (and/or Whaley).  Recognized what was available - and knew what they were doing.  We don't have the "greatest" safety duo that the NYJ have (according to some in the media)...  But we didn't spend two 1st round picks either, and have an amazing secondary - when paired with White/Gaines.

The Defense isn't perfect yet (obviously) - but it's improved quite a bit.  Kudos to Poyer.  Totally a snub for the pro-bowl.

Intersting I really just assumed. I can't recall the exact time when we acquired him.. Was this a Whaley pickup ?????

From what I info I found it looks like McDermott made the call on this one

I see there was a quote in this thread.. Didn't catch it

From how it appears to me, McD told Whaley which players to sign in FA and he did so. It appears there was a ton of input from the asst coaches if you look at who was brought in. This is not to say that Whaley and his team had nothing to do with scouting them, of course.
