BREAKING NEWS
The Raiders plan to announce Tuesday that Jon Gruden will return to Oakland as their new head coach after parting ways with Jack Del Rio at the end of the season. Read more about this move here.

The Oakland Raiders are preparing to announce their new head coach next week.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that the Raiders are planning for a Tuesday press conference to introduce soon-to-be-new coach Jon Gruden, according to a source informed of the decision. Rapoport added that Gruden will have his formal interview in Oakland on Monday.

Veteran Raiders reporter Steve Corkran first reported the plan, noting the news conference is expected to be "splashy" in Oakland.

Per Rapoport, the Raiders are preparing a 10-year contract which is expected to eclipse $100 million, Rapoport reported. Gruden's coordinators will receive four-year deals, Rapoport adds.

Gruden can’t live up to a 10 year contract.  I’ve got to believe there must be escape valve clauses on both sides.  My hunch is that he will become very successful there and then flame out within three seasons.

However, this all sets a very interesting precedent for the rest of the league.  I do have to wonder what kind of influence it will have on other coaching contracts.

Gruden is so overrated but he inherits a really talented team.

Sort of like Tampa Bay? He tunes it for win?

At that salary, they likely gave him full control over the team.  Yeah, that should end well.

Reggie McKenzie has done a nice job rebuilding the Raiders' roster, so they shouldn't completely turn over the keys.

His return to the Raiders has to be one of the worst kept secrets ever.
