PromoTheRobot Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) If the Steelers win today (already up 10-0) does it take away any incentive from the Jags to beating the Titans? (Someone please let me know if that's correct.) So if next week's game is that meaningless, would Doug Marrone tank a game in order to keep the Bills from the playoffs? The only reason I can imagine he wouldn't is it would negatively affect his W/L record. Edited December 25, 2017 by PromoTheRobot

I'm sure Doug would rather win this game and not see his team limp into the post season on a 2 game losing streak.
Beast Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 No way. They are the Jags, not the Patriots. losing two in a row is not a good idea heading into the playoffs.
MJS Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 I doubt he is thinking about the Bills at all when making such a decision. 1
K-9 Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Coughlan was never one to let the Giants take the final Sunday off in these types of games, so who knows.
Roundybout Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Coughlin never rested his starters. Said that he told them to play during the year, why stop now? I think that will remain the case.

I think that he took advantage of a loop hole in his contract and it worked out for him.
Billznut Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 I could see Bortles only playing 1-2 quarters. They can’t afford to lose him. And that would probably be enough to alter the outcome of that game.

I think the Jags beat the Titans.... it is the Raiders or the Bengals we need to pull off the upset.

BuffaloMatt Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Backups play harder, everyone is trying to make an impression and earn next year's gig.
Dr.Sack Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 I think Marrone is going to rest his guys. The Titans led by Mularkey will pull a repeat of 2004 & lose a gimme game to backups. ? 1

Arkady Renko Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Is the No. 3 locked in or can KC get it?
26CornerBlitz Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 They should be looking for a better showing heading into the playoffs after taking a beat down in Santa Clara.
