Horrible play calling and and even worse decision. 

 

Gutless, safe play calling is not gong to win when you have to beat the pats and the refs. 

 

I can spin it the other way.

You have a better chance of making a TD from that distance than hoping to then get 32 more yards & getting a TD later.

Also, failing to make a 4th early in the game is easier to course correct than late in the game. If  you don't make it, the Pats still get the ball at our 33. If  you make it, you at least get points.
