PIZ
yahoo sports Patriots: Weis won't be replaced by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Tuesday, March 8, 2005 News The Patriots won't have an offensive coordinator this season, a team spokesman told the Boston Herald. Head coach Bill Belichick and his staff will cover the duties of the position, and Belichick intends to keep the playbook and the language of the offense the same as it was under Weis. Views Belichick called his own plays when he coached the Browns in the early 90s. He could also pass along some of those responsibilities to receivers coach Brian Daboll, one of the rising stars on the Pats' staff.
Corp000085
the media is just documenting this stuff so they have something to refer to if the pats stink next year. edit: or to make bellicheck more god like if the opposite happens.
BF_in_Indiana
I don't think New England is going to make the Super Bowl this year. The rapid turnover of their team with both coaches and players has finally taken effect and they will begin to come back to the pack. If Bruschi doesn't come back that's one more nail in the coffin. BillsNYC
This means that either Weiss had nothing to do with the success of the Patriots the last 5 years, or Belichek has a God Complex.

zow2
They still have Brady...and that automatically makes them a contender no matter who coaches or plays with him.

The Pats are successful mostly because of their [former] coaching staff. How much that is affected by the departures of Weis and Crennel remains to be seen, but they'll be hard-pressed to duplicate the success they've had. PromoTheRobot
This is not the first time Belichick served as his own OC. He did it in Cleveland. How did that work out for him? Of course everyone in New England still worships at the alter of Genius Bill. He could cut the whole team, and every assistant coach, and folks would still belive they are winning the Super Bowl again in 2006. PTR
