26CornerBlitz Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 BILLS TO RENOVATE NEW ERA FIELD PREMIUM AREAS New Era Field's sideline clubs will be undergoing their first ever renovation and it will all be privately funded by Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula.
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Quit stealing DD’s thunder. Its a joke not meant against you sir relax 1 1
PromoTheRobot Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Is this DD's new stadium/valuable real estate announcement? 2
dwight in philly Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 good move.. and no taxpayer funds.
BillnutinHouston Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 As DD has said, billionaires don't make foolish investments. But this one seems so, considering they are already planning their exit from The Cap. How long will it take to earn a return on this investment?

Why pour millions into a dump you're ready to move out of?

Kirby Jackson Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I have no idea why they’d make the investment if what DD says is true. It will be done for basically 5 seasons. With that being said it was necessary to upgrade. With tickets being as accessible as the are now teams have spent the last 10 -15 years trying to add amenities and access. The Bills have done a nice job on the access part. The tent at camp is nice, the field passes, draft party, etc... The amenities could be upgraded though. 1
Mr. WEO Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 So now instead of selling Labatts out of a garbage can, they will sell it over the counter? That is premium... 2
Steptide Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Because dd said the stadium wouldn't open until 2022 I believe. So that's 4 years from now. New era still has to be relevant
Gugny Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 From the article: The main objectives of the renovation are to improve overall traffic flow within the clubs, provide a more efficient way for club seat members to congregate with family and friends while still offering all the amenities the indoor seating area provides when fans in the sideline club seats come inside during breaks in the action. I wonder if the sales of these sections' season tickets are down. Also, are these more, or less, expensive than other clubs?
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Instead of building a new stadium, they should just put money into improving the physicsl structure of new era and make sure it will stay up for 50 more years. Then maybe because of the height of the top of the stadium in relation to the ground level, put some sort of cover over it. As long as it doesn’t fall down, we probably don’t need a new stadium.

There will still be probably 4 years before the new stadium is ready (contract requires by 2022)... Plus, we all saw Terry's early pressers, he is not here for return on investments. Remember him saying when asked how he was going to make money, while dumping all that money into the city of Buffalo (he was just sabres owner at the time), and I paraphrase "I'm not here to make money. If I want more money I will get it from my othr business. I'm here to win championships" Now obviously he has no championships, but it's also obvious that he is trying, and massively improving the area in the process. It's time we give Pegulas more credit, they want to improve the fan experience. Time will prove them great owners once the on-field and on-ice products are better. Edit to make that clear, and avoid spreading false info. I had remembered it that way but was misremembering, something that seems to happen more and more as the years tick by. Remember it was part of the sales of the team. Wilson estate required the new owner build by 2022 You sure about that? Are you maybe thinking of that clause in the stadium lease that didn't allow a team to leave until 2022/23? Or Pegula saying that the NFL was pretty adamant that they wanted the Bills to eventually build a new stadium? The NFL can't force Pegula to build one, though. And there was nothing in the sale (that I'm aware of) that forces the owners to build a new stadium.
HOF4LOU Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 how about some windows that open in the M&T area...who would ever want to sit there for a game ?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Don't see anything about how much this will cost, how much they make in concession sales, and how much more they expect to make as a result of these renovations which not surprised to not see any of that listed. So considering we basically no nothing, can't see any reason to question why they are doing it. Likely compared to the cost of a new stadium and what they may be able to make in increased sales could mean the payback is less than 5 years so then why not.

LOL....
sullim4 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I bet this is a play to increase club ticket sales in anticipation of capturing more sales for the new stadium project. When I go to the games, I always pick up tickets in one of the sideline clubs. The seats themselves have excellent sight lines and the club amenities are nice without removing you from the stadium atmosphere. The restrooms are cleaner, the annoying drunks are quickly taken care of, you can watch Sunday Ticket after the game while waiting for traffic to clear... it's money well spent if you're planning to go to the game. 1

Remember it was part of the sales of the team. Wilson estate required the new owner build by 2022 A few things, they don’t have to build. The lease just tied the team in WNY and made it less appealing for people that purchased to the team to move them. They were basically “stuck” in WNY for 7 years (or whatever it was). In terms of the Pegula’s they definitely care. They aren’t cheap. They aren’t competent either. To be a “great” owner you have to be both willing to spend and no how to win. 1
