"That's what I was chasing. That's what I thought the league was about. I had to learn because when you're losing, things tend to creep into your mind: I should be getting the ball more. If I do get the ball more, we'd be winning. But half the times I did have two touchdowns and 170 yards, we're losing. "I found out that, hey, the fun is in the winning." Real McClappy
Awww! Sammy is growing up like most young players do in front of our faces. Hopefully that will translate into him being a team leader next. Time will tell...
GG
This is why he was traded, and a lot of times troubled players need a change of scenery. Quote Dunbar isn't home. Buffalo isn't home. But L.A.? He hopes this can be. Since the Bills' new regime shipped him off to the Rams, Watkins has restructured his life. For one, he learned to say "no" to friends and family constantly in need of money. He also fired his financial advisors. Without divulging details, Watkins assures many non-football issues were cluttering his life in Buffalo.

So half the time you lose those games? For a stats guy you weren't paying much attention Mr. Watkins. You did have 158 and 2 touchdowns once. hondo in seattle
Awesome article. I loved reading about how Shady confronted Watkins on his selfishness. "We hear you need 10 targets a game," McCoy said aloud to Watkins. "Here you go." And with that, the running back handed the disgruntled receiver a manila envelope with 10 red targets printed out inside. BringBackOrton
Sammy is trying to get ahead of his rep before he hits FA. Hope he's truly matured.
CommonCents
That's a great article written by Dunne. Like many at OBD I still have my doubts that Watkins is any different but good for him if he is. Still my nephews favorite player even after he left and for that I'm partly responsible. I think the training staff issue has been a problem in Buffalo for years now. Ever since the Bills lost that trainer from the 90's (I cannot remember his name at the moment), the players on this team have been constantly nicked up, injured, weight issues, etc.
zow2
Really hard for to blame an NFL training staff for players getting ankle, knee, hip, groin, hammy, concussion, etc....injuries. But maybe this staff enabled players to miss more games for minor injuries....or didn't adequately treat them so they could play.

dave mcbride
WOW. Lots to chew on here, but suffice it to say that the situation in Buffalo was toxic. He contributed to it, but so did the team. Lal does not come off well here.
ProcessTheTrust
Good for him. Whether he's sincere or not, it truly doesn't matter to us....well...to us who didn't spend $100 on his jersey. To the rest, you could always get it replated with Webb III, haha

Who admittedly was out for himself during his time here. That's a tough spot for a coach, IIRC Watkins loved Lal I'd imagine that was the "breaking" point.
