Gordio Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Playing around with the ESPN playoff machine it does seem like it would be more beneficial for us that the Chiefs beat the Chargers Saturday night. Three way tie with the chiefs at 9-7 & it says we are the odd team out, three way tie with the Chargers & they are actually the odd team out.

That's not how tiebreakers work if there are more than two teams involved. Head to head goes out the window. If the Bills finish 9-7, it seems likely that at least two other teams could be there with them when looking at current standings and schedules. If that combo involved KC, the Bills would be sunk in most scenarios. 18 minutes ago, Gordio said: Playing around with the ESPN playoff machine it does seem like it would be more beneficial for us that the Chiefs beat the Chargers Saturday night. While there are various scenarios, it does seem the Bills odds go up with the Chargers in the wildcard mix as opposed to the Chiefs.

Also every game the Chiefs lose improves the Bills pick from them. Actually the best scenario for the Bills, would be for the Bills to win out.
TheFunPolice Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) Let's just go 10-6 and solve the problem! This aint the NFC, where 11--5 might not get it done this year Edited December 14, 2017 by TheFunPolice

KC holds the tiebreaker in ALL multi-tiebreaker situations, which 9-7 100% will be. The Bills hold the tiebreaker in all multi-tie scenarios with LAC. Believe it or not, with a TEN/BAL win and a LAC loss, LAC is eliminated. That is going to be so Billsy when KC OAK BUFF end in a 3-way tie and some obscure late season games results changes the win % Strength of Schedule and causes the Bills to miss out on playoffs to two teams they beat in regular season. Shades of SD Chargers getting home game with Dan Fouts vs hobbled Joe Ferguson when Bills soundly defeated Chargers in regular season, in SD no less. Edited December 14, 2017 by cba fan
