Ramza86 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 If we currently have the space...I wouldnt mind paying top dollar for a quality QB. It allows us to use our stockpiled draft picks on players. If you could have an Eli Manning/Kirk Cousins for 3 years at a premium and keep our high picks (Rookie wages to keep cap in good shape.) Or do you give up your draft for a QB and look for FA finds? What say you
mrags Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I really want Mayfield but don’t want to trade up to get him. So I’d be ok with getting an Eli Manning, Alex Smith type vet and keeping our picks and hopefully getting Mayfield. But if he falls is the question. Even still, they probably have a QB in mind that would be there where they draft. Do that if you like a guy there. If not, use the picks on getting the O and D Lines right. Another WR. And some nfl caliber LBs. Have Eli or Smith for 1-2 years and groom your rookie. If one starts to decline or gets hurt, it’s time for the Rook. 1
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Both wasn't an option, but thats the route i would go. Bring in a Bradford, McCown, Keenum, Smith (probably not a Cousins, that pricetags very high) - and then draft a guy. Philly basically already did this with bradford, because you have to sign a free agent first since the draft is so much later. They ended up recouping a 1st for Bradford, which I don't think we would be able to do - but it'd be a much better QB room than we've had in a very long time. 1

What say you I don’t believe that Eli has 3 years left in him , I like Kirk Cousins but let me ask you this - if you had to pick the top 10 QB’s would he make that list ? What we do know is that who ever will consider to sign him will have to make him the highest paid QB in the league , i think drafting a QB is the way to go , now are we willing to move up and give up the farm for a top 5 pick ? Or maybe we can still get one in the middle of the first round , 1

He will be asking for anywhere between 25-30 million a year ,

ddaryl Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 We draft a QB.... and we move up to do so. 1
wppete Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Trade up for Sam Darnold. If we can somehow trade our 2 first round picks for a top 6 pick and get Sam Darnold that would be perfect. I hope this happens.
P51 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Personally, if we could land Cousins, I'd sign him and keep the picks especially if both Buffalo and Kansas City end up with picks in the lower half of the 1st round. The cost of moving up would be steep and personally I would rather have a QB (I consider Cousins a franchise QB watching him here in VA all the time) and 4 (4 picks in the 1st 2 rounds) more players. Given Buffalo's current picks, they could package their 2 -1sts and 2 2nds to move up (using the trade value chart) to the 3rd pick w/SF, and their would likely be 2 QB's off the board already, so they would be getting their 3rd choice likely... IMO: Cousins + 4 picks in the top 64 > 3rd Choice of QB in draft. or Cousins + 4 picks in the top 64 > 4/5/6th QB choice at 18 and 3 more picks in the top 64 or any other combination or moving up and losing picks. However, I dont see us landing Cousins so.... Edited December 12, 2017 by P51 (4 picks in the 1st 2 rounds)

ProcessTheTrust Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Trade for the better draft pick to get one. Yes, it would be wonderful to have all our picks to fill holes immediately. However, the Rams and Eagles both show that if you have a little patience, you can get your guy by seemingly trading too much, and still build your pieces and contend very quickly. 2 examples slapping us in the face head to head this past week. It's a no brainer. Couple that with Beane's quote about the first thing a GM needs to do is get his QB to build upon, and it's not a mystery. Edited December 12, 2017 by ProcessTheTrust
FearLess Price Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Draft one to be the franchise qb. Since FA comes 1st youre gonna have to sign a qb to bridge to the rookie anyway. Just dont wanna use cap room to bring in a cousins type qb. There cheaper options with similar win loss records
dpberr Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Draft if you want to address the issue once and for all. You can get "good" with Cousins but you can possibly be great with your draft pick.
Real McClappy Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) We should not throw a rookie QB to the wolves as a day1 starter IMO and break him if we go this route. If not Tyrod, who is the best bridge QB for a year that the rookie can learn or develop behind? Tyrod McCarron Bradford Bridgewater Cutler Smith other? I'd be tempted to go Bradford personally if the dude could stay healthy. Just not sure that is possible? Edited December 12, 2017 by Real McCoy 1

Eli is a declining mediocrity and Cousins is a "never will be" tease like Cutler.

Bradford worries me with injuries, but he's very good when healthy. I'd take a chance if he'd come here. AJ McCarron would be interesting. I have always been a fan and think he'd be a decent stop gap guy. No thanks on Teddy. I am not sold he'll ever fully recover...and even if he did I do not think he was ever a top level guy. Cutler will retire. Alex Smith / Kirk Cousins for me. Draft your replacement to sit on the bench and LEARN for at least 1 year. Edited December 12, 2017 by rodneykm
K D Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 YES and YES. add a veteran and draft a 1st round QB 1
